Role Description We are seeking an experienced Manager in Corporate Tax to join our growing tax advisory practice. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality tax services to a diverse client base in a collaborative, client-focused environment. You will manage tax engagements, lead junior and senior staff, and leverage our alliance partnership for complex matters. Key Responsibilities - Manage corporate tax engagements from planning through execution, ensuring quality and client satisfaction. - Supervise and mentor junior and senior tax professionals; provide technical guidance and professional development. - Develop tax strategies and recommendations for mid-market clients across various industries. - Conduct tax research, analysis, and compliance work; prepare tax returns and advisory documents. - Collaborate with clients to understand business objectives and tailor tax solutions accordingly. - Coordinate with alliance partners on complex or specialized tax matters requiring external expertise. - Travel to client sites and branch offices as needed (approximately 3–4 times annually). Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required. - Minimum 6 years of corporate tax experience. - Fluent in both Japanese and English. - Demonstrated expertise in corporate tax planning, compliance, and advisory services. - Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax law; experience with mid-market clients preferred. - Excellent communication and client management skills. - Proficiency with tax software, MS Office, and accounting systems. Preferred Qualifications - Big 4 or national accounting firm background. - Tax audit or IRS representation experience. - Advanced degree (Master's in Taxation or similar). Compensation & Work Arrangement - Salary: $110,000–$165,000 (commensurate with experience). - Full remote work option; relocation not required. - Preferred locations: Los Angeles, New York, Indianapolis, or Dallas; other locations considered. - Core hours: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM; full-time employment (8 hours/day) with flexible scheduling. - Travel: Occasional (3–4 times annually) to client sites and branch offices. Role Description The role of Payroll Manager is responsible for the payroll function and tax consultation services to clients. They will work with clients to develop tax strategies and policies for client operations and transactions. They will lead internal and external training sessions to help foster career development of tax Staff and Senior accountants. Responsibilities: - Prepare and review 1040 tax returns and other tax forms - Prepare and review tax equalization calculation - Assist in responding to notices and act as client representative with tax authorities - Conduct gross up computation for expatriates - Maintain payroll operation by collecting and entering data, and reviewing payroll reporting - Work with clients to develop tax efficient solutions which address clients' business needs - Work on expanding tax knowledge and keep up-to-date with latest tax regulations Qualifications - Undergraduate degree in Accounting, or a tax concentration within an accounting program from an accredited college/university. - 5+ years of individual income tax / payroll experience - A CPA / EA license required - Strong tax accounting and analytical skills. - Strong computer skills: proficiency in tax accounting software, Excel, Word. - Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills. - Ability to multi-task and set daily, weekly and monthly priorities. - Detail-oriented with a strong level of accuracy in aspects of reporting and communication. - Business level proficiency in English required – Dual business level proficiency in Japanese preferred/required.
