• Develop engineering design drawing and calculation packages from conceptual phase through detailed design and perform design reviews of the aforementioned civil/structural design components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation projects. • Ensure that the substation facility meets all applicable safety and environmental regulations, including storm water and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements. • Perform site design activities such as determining cut/fill for a grading plan, determining impervious additions and calculating water flow for erosion control and storm water control. • Perform design reviews on a regular basis, as well as developing junior staff members, and contributing to bids and proposal development. • Occasional site-visits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events. • Provide design support to field personnel during project construction.

• Oversee others in the performance of engineering calculations and studies/review results. • Work with subcontractors, other staff engineers and designers to perform all aspects of civil and structural engineering calculations and designs for substations. • Develop Finite Element structural models of structures and other steel design calculations such as connections and anchor rods. • Work with designers to develop structure design and fabrication drawings. • Develop calculations for reinforced concrete foundations, and work with designers to develop foundation design drawings. • Work with designers to develop site-work drawings including embankment preparation, drainage, and erosion control details. • Coordinate design issues with clients and vendors, including attendance at meetings and conferences. • Assure that all engineering documents and records are properly maintained. • Coordinate with purchasing and quality control personnel. • Provide engineering specifications and other information required by purchasing to procure equipment. • Review vendor submittals. • Coordinate with contract administrative personnel to assure client requirements are met. • Participate in development of less experienced engineers and designers.

• Work on typical WPI projects: exterior and interior framing, ceilings, load bearing strut. May require review but expected to work independently. • Communicate directly with internal and external team members, including those in the field. Attend project meetings with internal team and the project design team. • Prepare drawings for shop drawing submittals. Work with WPI BIM and drafting team. • Prepare calculation packages for submitting to project design team and local jurisdictions • Participate in bid reviews and estimating new projects • Act as liaison with relevant project professional staff, such as Architect of Record or Engineer of Record. • Monitor and inspect work in progress to verify systems are built per engineered drawings. • Support field operations. Such as translating structural drawings and specifications for the field team. Preparing drawings for site team use to make layouts easier. Creating engineered sketches to show to special inspectors.
