Claims Analyst

• Manage a portfolio of direct insurance claims across multiple lines and territories, from initial review through resolution, settlement, or litigation. • Conduct thorough coverage analysis, assess losses and reserves, and negotiate timely settlements with counterparties. • Lead the handling of complex and disputed claims, including preparation of coverage position letters and management of external counsel where required. • Oversee and audit TPA-administered claims, including authority referrals and performance monitoring. • Manage complaint cases in accordance with regulatory guidelines and internal standards. • Effectively manage external service providers (legal counsel, adjusters, experts) to ensure quality, cost control, and alignment with company objectives. • Support due diligence for new acquisitions by assessing claims-related risks and opportunities. • Analyze claims data and trends to identify exposures and improvement opportunities. • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Job Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of direct claims handling and coverage experience.
  • Construction Defect and/or Lloyd’s experience is preferred
  • Strong technical understanding of policy language, coverage interpretation, and key legal principles.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex claims and negotiating successful settlements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and claims systems.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Willingness to expand technical expertise and learn additional claim disciplines over time.

The Liability Claims Manager is responsible for the overall operation of a designated office. This role participates in formulating and administering company best practices as well as developing long-range goals and objectives, analyzing costs, activities and operations, supporting the goals of claims department and of CorVel.  This role is available for remote, onsite and hybrid work arrangements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Represents the company in a professional manner to both internal and external customers and clients - Directs the performance and development of the employees in their department - Ensures staff compliance with Best Practices for Liability - Assures peak performance of the team through continued training and coaching, coupled with regular performance evaluations - Utilizes jurisdictional expertise and knowledge of regulatory rules, statutes and procedures governing these jurisdictions to ensure compliance - Monitors operational workflow and manages appropriate/adequate staffing levels and staff retention strategies - Develops and oversees the implementation of common claim practices and procedures - Directs and controls the review and settlement of high dollar or potential high dollar claims, as well as any claims that are beyond the authority of subordinate claims personnel - Promotes operational efficiency, quality, and consistency by continuously improving processes, people and systems - Ensures compliance with CorVel’s policies and procedures - Ability to travel overnight and attend meetings - Additional duties as assigned   KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer contact, negotiation, presentations, project management and personnel management - Effective quantitative, analytical and interpretive skills - Excellent leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate staff and obtain results through teamwork - Ability to function effectively under time constraints, consistently meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment - Ability to remain poised in stressful situations and communicate diplomatically via various communication channels - Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize common computer applications - Strong interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills - Maintain a high level of professionalism - Knowledge of the entire Liability claims administration procedures   EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree with a combination of education and equivalent industry-related experience, with a record of steady advancement in Third Party Liability claims administration - Minimum of 6 years’ comprehensive Liability administration experience - Minimum of 2-4 years recent supervisory or management experience   PAY RANGE: CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location.  Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors:  federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions.  Our ranges may be modified at any time. For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.  The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
