Inpatient Facility HIMS Complex Coder
Banner Health
• Provides coding and abstracting for mid-tiered complexity range of acute care services at all Banner hospitals • Reviews diagnosis and diagnostic information and codes and abstracts diagnoses and/or procedures on inpatient records using ICD CM and PCS coding classification systems • Completes MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignments on inpatient records as appropriate • Ensures ethical and accurate coding in accordance with all regulatory requirements and AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding
Job Requirements
- 3 years recent experience in Inpatient Facility-based coding (clearly reflected in your attached resume)
- Experienced in ICD-10-PCS & ICD-10-CPT coding
- Must be currently certified through AAPC or Ahima, as defined in minimum qualifications below
- A Coding Assessment will be given after a successful interview to be completed within 48 hours

Role Description The CERIS Certified Coder reverse codes previously coded medical bills to determine coding accuracy. This role is responsible for making claim-related recommendations and communicating status of the claim to involved stakeholders. This is a remote position. • Step in as the primary coder for daily data production during major conflict crises globally, as declared by the client or ACLED. • Produce daily uploads of ACLED’s conflict event data, utilizing existing sourcing lists, methodologies, and translation tools. • Execute the daily data upload using the existing expedited data process and on client portals. • Maintain the same data quality and output as regular weekly releases. • Serve as the primary coder during a crisis, receiving local expert knowledge and data review support from the Researchers. • Support in coordinating crisis coding by maintaining active communication between the Researcher(s), desk management, and the crisis coder team. • When not actively coding for a crisis, contribute to the work of the Quality Assurance team or the regional desks.
