Senior Backend Developer, Python

Holycode

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python • Build high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database models • Use AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) as an integral part of the software development lifecycle, including implementation, testing, debugging, and code reviews • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best engineering practices • Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and other cross-functional team members • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making • Optimize application performance, scalability, and security • Integrate third-party services and APIs • Write and maintain technical documentation • Perform code reviews and mentor other developers when needed • Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and engineering best practices • Work in an agile environment with a strong focus on delivering high-quality software

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience
  • Strong professional experience building backend applications with Python
  • Strong experience with FastAPI (preferred), Django, Flask, or similar Python backend frameworks
  • Experience designing scalable backend architectures
  • Strong experience in database design, data modeling, and SQL databases
  • Proven experience using AI-assisted coding tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) to improve productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and engineering best practices
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience building REST APIs
  • Experience with asynchronous programming
  • Experience monitoring and debugging production systems
  • Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation
  • Strong knowledge of software design principles
  • Experience with Git and Docker
  • Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or modern hosting platforms such as Railway, Supabase
  • Experience writing automated tests and ensuring code quality
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
