• Act as a trusted thought partner to the CEO: help translate strategic goals into concrete operational plans. • Prepare briefing materials, memos, and decision-making documents for high-level meetings. • Identify priority areas and help set CEO focus — proactively flag opportunities, risks, and critical issues. • Oversee special projects that don’t have a clear owner but are mission-critical (e.g., events, risk mitigation, process redesign). • Partner with the CEO to actively shape and protect strategic priorities — ensuring focus, energy, and time are aligned with organizational goals, donor strategy, and long-term impact. • Exercise judgment over what rises to the CEO’s attention, proactively assessing requests, opportunities, and commitments for strategic value and timing. • Lead and coordinate cross-functional, high-impact initiatives from planning through execution. • Serve as project lead on strategic priorities, tracking progress, managing roadblocks, and ensuring key deliverables are met. • Define metrics for initiatives, monitor performance, and report on outcomes. • Design, implement, and refine frameworks for organizational planning, decision-making, and accountability. • Establish and manage leadership meeting rhythms (e.g., planning meetings, review cycles). • Create systems to synchronize work across teams (status dashboards, shared planning tools, decision-tracking). • Identify operational risks and inefficiencies; propose and implement solutions. • Help shape and maintain a strong leadership culture by facilitating cross-team collaboration, trust, and transparency. • Act as a connective tissue across departments, surfacing misalignment early and helping leaders resolve issues before they escalate. • Support board operations: prepare board meeting materials, agendas, and follow-up.

This description is a summary of our understanding of the job description. Click on 'Apply' button to find out more. Role Description The Chief of Staff will make the CEO dramatically more effective by managing bandwidth and priorities. The ideal candidate will be able to operate as a proactive player-coach hybrid: - Strategic enough to sit in on a pricing discussion or a legislative briefing and add real value. - Tactical enough to ensure every follow-up actually happens. - Willing to draft a policy memo at 9am and clean up CRM data at 2pm. The through-line is judgment, ownership, and the ability to context-switch throughout the day. To facilitate face-to-face work and build internal trust with the CEO, preference will be given to candidates located in the NY metro area. Remote candidates willing to travel frequently will be considered, but local is strongly preferred. A Note on Work Style: The CEO travels frequently and sometimes keeps unpredictable hours around customer deadlines and conferences, but that's his calendar, not yours. The role is demanding because of its breadth and pace, not because we expect you to be on-call around the clock. That said, the person who will thrive in this role will be a self-starter who spots what needs doing and moves on it without waiting for direction. What You'll Do - Deal & Pipeline Support: - Own CRM hygiene. - Prep the CEO for meetings (pulling background on agencies, legislators, and procurement officers). - Draft follow-up emails. - Track where every opportunity stands. - AI-Driven Process Improvement: - Find places where AI can create velocity. - Build a monitoring pipeline that auto-summarizes new state-level identity legislation. - Set up AI-assisted meeting prep workflows. - Create drafting tools for the CEO. - Strategic Research & Synthesis: - Monitor developments in govtech and digital identity. - Synthesize information into digestible briefs. - Flag important matters for the CEO. - Communications & Content Leverage: - Draft, edit, and polish outputs for the CEO. - Turn rough voice memos into polished one-pagers. - Prep speaker notes. - Ghost-draft blog content. - Cross-Functional Gap-Filling: - Run hiring processes. - Manage event prep. - Jump into partner integration workstreams. - Travel: - Based in the U.S. (NY metro preferred) and willing to travel as needed. Qualifications - 5-8+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, business development, or a high-ownership role within a technology company. - Exceptional written communication skills. - AI-native: Think in terms of workflow automation and using AI to create leverage. - Comfort with ambiguity and context-switching. - Familiarity with government or regulated industries. - High agency, low ego: Comfortable doing unglamorous work. Requirements - $135,000 - $180,000 a year, depending on experience, qualifications, skill set, and location. - Equity and a competitive benefits package offered. Company Description At SpruceID, we value diversity of perspectives and backgrounds. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status.
