Role Description We're seeking an experienced creative academic and leader to join our Creative Industries faculty on a fixed-term basis, providing parental leave cover for our Head of Faculty. This is a hands-on academic leadership role reporting to the Head of Programme Development and leading a team of two Faculty Associate Leaders. The successful candidate will balance leadership with curriculum development, ensuring the faculty is well positioned for the successful delivery of newly approved programmes in 2027. - Providing day-to-day academic and operational leadership for the Creative Industries faculty team. - Supporting the implementation of newly approved programmes. - Providing leadership for programme and content development while also taking a hands-on role in creating learning materials, assessments, and teaching resources to support programme implementation. - Ensuring programmes align with NZQA requirements, institutional policies, and relevant accreditation and quality standards. - Coordinating and overseeing the development of centralised learning resources, assessments, LMS setup (in partnership with Learning Design), moderation activities, tutor guidance, and delivery preparation across campuses and delivery modes. - Supporting and enabling teaching teams through programme implementation, readiness activities, and ongoing delivery support. - Leading programme reviews, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities, including moderation processes, and the implementation of recommendations and improvement actions. - Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to ongoing programme quality, innovation, and strategic development. - Fostering a collaborative, industry-informed, and ākonga-centred teaching culture that reflects Māori and Pasifika advancement principles across curriculum design and programme delivery. Qualifications - Master’s qualification in a relevant creative industries discipline (or equivalent tertiary qualification and/or significant professional experience). - Subject matter expertise within the Design and/or Animation disciplines. - Experience leading academic teams, programmes, or curriculum initiatives within a tertiary education environment. - Strong capability in curriculum development, learning design, and the creation of high-quality teaching and learning resources. - Experience with programme accreditation processes, external academic reviews, and maintaining academic quality standards. - A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to provide direction while also taking a hands-on approach and contributing directly to programme development. - Excellent communication, organisational, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
