Role Description As a Health Information Management (HIM) Associate on the Member Experience team, you will demonstrate your motivation and ability to serve as the dedicated point of contact for all releases of information, medical records, identifying the type of requests in order to appropriately process them, and ensuring strict confidentiality with all Health Information. Using organizational standards and attention to detail, accuracy, meeting strict deadlines, efficiency, policy comprehension, and process diligence, the Specialist will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations to carry out internal and external record requests as necessary. Core Responsibilities - Receive, prioritize, and process records requests under all encompassing state and federal regulations pertaining to confidentiality, specifically 42 CFR Part 2 and substance use treatment records. - Ensure patient safeguards and confidentiality are prioritized at all times when handling health information and patient records. - Serve as a clinical documentation subject matter expert and contribute to training and quality improvement activities related to HIM. - Ensure consistent compliance in regards to the application of policies and procedures. - Commitment to friendly and collaborative internal and external communication. - Accurately document all requests and responses in a timely manner. - Conduct sensitive corrections to record occurrences within regulatory guidelines. - Contribute to making Workit Health a great place to work. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or related field preferred. - RHIT, RHIA, or other relevant HIM certification preferred or willingness to obtain within one year of hire. - 1–2 years of experience in health information management, medical records processing, or related healthcare administrative roles preferred. - Experience working with sensitive health data, including substance use treatment records and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance, strongly preferred. - Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and document management software. Requirements - Working knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other applicable federal and state regulations governing patient confidentiality and health information disclosure. - Ability to accurately interpret and apply compliance policies and procedures in real-time documentation and request processing.
