In this role, you will provide customer-oriented design and construction services to clients nationwide and in the Western Region, and it offers great growth potential. Posting Locations for this role: Chicago, Lisle, Normal, Peoria, or Springfield, IL or St. Louis, MO What You'll Do: - Perform structural analysis and design for building structures and related systems. - Perform structural analysis and design for Energy and Industrial structures and related systems. - Develop construction documents and provide construction administration services. - Perform site visits, client meetings, and coordination with the project team. What You'll Need: - Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, with emphasis in structures - 8 -15 years of structural engineering experience - Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure preferred - Experience with design and construction administration of building structures, preferably both new construction and renovation of existing structures - Experience designing with common construction materials: steel, concrete, masonry or wood - Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously Who We Are Join Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm, where your career can thrive! This remote role will focus on translating engineering concepts and markups into precise structural steel and concrete models using Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. - Revit Modelling: Develop and maintain accurate, highly detailed 3D structural models for steel and concrete NPI facilities using Revit. - Design Translation: Accurately interpret and translate structural engineers' hand drawings, Bluebeam markups, and design notes into precise 3D models and 2D construction drawings. - Clash Detection & Coordination: Import external vendor files and federate 3D models into a centralised Navisworks environment. Perform clash detection and isolate specific structural or equipment packages within Navisworks. - Quality Assurance: Conduct self-checks and peer reviews on models and drawings to ensure strict adherence to company standards, client specifications, and Australian Standards (AS). - Produce and edit 2D engineering process drawings and blocks using AutoCAD. - Provide high-level engineering administrative support, including executing calculations and organising data using Microsoft Excel. - Draft, edit, and format comprehensive engineering documents and reports using Microsoft Word. - Maintain accurate records in the company’s document control system, admin and document formatting in Word and Excel. Qualifications - Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Drafting, or a related field. - Minimum 2+ years experience in a drafting or engineering role, preferably within the mining, heavy industry, or NPI sectors. - Advanced skills in developing structural steel and concrete models in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and Revit. - Practical experience using Navisworks as a viewing, clash detection, and model federation tool. - Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, compliant tender documents and engineering reports. - Eager to learn, motivated and open to tackling new challenges. - Ability to work independently and take initiative with problem-solving skills. - Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills. - Excellent English skills (writing and speaking). Requirements - Experience with Australian WA mining standards or Non-Process Infrastructure is a huge bonus. - Background in modular and scalable infrastructure design. - Strong proficiency with Microsoft Teams.
