Secondary Market Mortgage Processor
Educational Systems Federal Credit Union
Role Description We are currently seeking an experienced, innovative, and critical thinker for our Secondary Market Mortgage Processor position. The Secondary Market Mortgage Processor is responsible for the timely, accurate and compliant processing of first mortgage and equity loans products while serving as a senior-level resource within the Mortgage Department. - Provides advanced support throughout the mortgage origination process. - Ensures the delivery of complete, high quality loan packages to underwriting and secondary market investors. - Exercises independent judgment in reviewing loan files, resolving complex documentation and underwriting issues. - Ensures compliance with Credit Union policies, investor requirements, and all applicable Federal, State, NCUA, and regulatory policies. - Must have flexibility to work extended hours and to travel periodically, which may include weekends and evenings. Qualifications - High school diploma required. - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. - Minimum of five years of progressively responsible mortgage processing, underwriting, or mortgage operations experience. - Demonstrated experience working with secondary market investors, investor delivery requirements, mortgage insurance providers, and agency guidelines. - Advanced knowledge of mortgage lending regulations including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA and other applicable compliance requirements. - Proficiency with mortgage origination/processing systems; Loan Product Advisor or equivalent underwriting software (AUS) and Microsoft Office products. - Experience with Encompass, FICS Loan Producer and MeridianLink Consumer preferred. - Experience with direct customer service in a financial institution preferred. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a high-volume environment. - Ability to speak and understand multiple languages a plus. - Position requires the ability to function independently while exercising sound judgment of lending policies and procedures. - Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. - Proven ability to manage multiple pipelines simultaneously and respond to changing deadlines and priorities. - Ability to function in a financial institution and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc. - Mathematical skills involving decimals, percentages and fractions etc. required. - This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. - Must be able to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator. • Processes and closes 1st mortgage loans, and other moderately complex and niche loan types. • Analyze and interpret federal and state regulations, credit union policy, and secondary market guidelines for all real estate loans- conforming and non-conforming. • Assists with training of staff. • Supports the processing and closing units to ensure mortgage loans are processed in a timely and efficient manner. • Maintains mortgage pipelines and queues to ensure applications and assignments are being completed timely and accurately and informs supervisor of concerns. • Offers alternative and/or corrective options, when applicable, when loan documentation or terms of loan do not meet underwriting standards. • Provides detailed comments/rationale on loans to the various mortgage committees when necessary. • Performs in-depth review and analysis of appraisals, credit reports, title reports, insurance documentation, income documentation, tax return analysis, asset documentation, commitment letter conditions.
