• Build efficient, high-performing front-end features in a modern SPA web framework. • Write efficient, clean, readable, fast, testable, documented code. • Deliver new features to production. • Collaborate with internal and external teams and other engineers to deliver a compelling easy-to-use product for the end-user / users. • Work closely with other engineers in a small, informal, remote team environment. • Ship code often in a fast-paced agile environment with continuous deployment. • Mentor and support other frontend engineers. • Work alongside and learn from talented engineers who have worked at leading advertising and technology companies.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using TypeScript (preferably NestJS) • Develop and document robust REST and GraphQL APIs used by frontend and AI components • Work with PostgreSQL and Redis to manage structured and real-time data • Collaborate across teams to integrate AI pipelines, inference systems, and third-party APIs • Own backend performance, reliability, observability, and dev workflow improvements • Drive engineering excellence via clean code, code reviews, and strong documentation • Evolve authentication, authorization, and permissioning systems • Contribute to architecture decisions with a long-term view on scale and maintainability

• Lead the development of core features — referral and affiliate program, improve pricing and packaging to optimize for Buffer's core value, and building Buffer's public tier and free tools to provide value far beyond signed-in users. • Drive experimentation — implement A/B tests, track key metrics to continue making Buffer's free plan the best in the market, optimize conversion and engagement that drive stronger acquisition and retention. • Collaborate across teams, you'll work closely with other teams to identify growth opportunities and implement solutions that span multiple domains. • Shape platform capabilities, build tools and systems that enable other teams to easily implement growth features, run experiments, and optimize their own conversion funnels. • Shape frontend architecture and UI standards, guide technical decisions from state management and component structure to evolving our internal design system (Popcorn), refining shared patterns, and ensuring our interfaces remain consistent, accessible, and scalable across growth initiatives. • Take shared ownership of product quality and system health. You'll participate in our on-call rotation — all engineers take a 24/7 week-long shift roughly once a quarter. You'll also contribute to the ongoing work that keeps our systems running smoothly and continuously improving, like fixing bugs, addressing security vulnerabilities, and other improvements. • Contribute to shaping our team’s engineering culture by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and helping us all get better over time.

• Leverage React and Typescript to craft clean, beautiful, maintainable, extensible, and secure code. • Refactor and modernize our codebases to increase maintainability, performance, and rapid iteration. • Drive innovative problem-solving on challenging engineering problems, including reusable and responsive UI components, app global state management, validations and error handling, theme management, rendering performance, and JS bundle optimizations. • Collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders from Production Management to Customer Success to enable well-informed business decision-making by bringing appropriate information to discussions, clarifying scope, accurately presenting tradeoffs, and communicating potential scope changes and alternatives with associated pros/cons. • Be an inspiring and supportive teammate by following the engineering processes, communicating often and quickly, participating in PR reviews, pair programming, active feedback, idea generation, coaching, learning, and being a delightful human being.
