About the Role The Vice President of Finance will serve as the organization’s senior financial leader, responsible for financial strategy, planning, operations, and performance management across the business. As our first financial leader, you'll help guide the organization through its next stage of scale and complexity. This role will play a critical part in elevating the Finance function from a tactical function to a strategic driver of the business—bringing financial rigor, leadership, and insight. The ideal leader will help build the foundation for a world-class finance organization that can support the company’s ambitious trajectory. This leader will guide the company through rapid growth, evolving risk-based contracts, and the complexities of value-based care economics. The VP of Finance will oversee all financial functions—FP&A, accounting, spend management, risk arrangements—and serve as a key thought partner to the CEO and executive team. As a VP of Finance, you’ll report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Location: New York City strongly preferred (Hybrid). Open to remote candidates in FL, VA, NY, NJ MO or TX. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy - Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial performance, growth planning, and operational decision-making. - Lead long-range financial planning, scenario modeling, and capital allocation strategies. - Partner directly with clinical, operations, and growth leaders to ensure financial sustainability within a full-risk, value-based care model. - Support fundraising activities through financial modeling, diligence support, and investor communications. Financial Planning & Analysis - Own the annual budgeting process, ongoing reforecasting, and long-term financial models. - Conduct deep FP&A analyses including: - Budget vs. actual performance - CAC:LTV modeling - Churn and retention analysis - J-curve and cohort performance analysis - Provide strategic insights to guide market entry, capacity planning, and resource allocation. Financial Operations - Oversee all financial operations, including outsourced HR/Payroll support responsible for payroll processing, benefits administration, state tax filings, corporate insurance, and related compliance. - Ensure robust internal controls, financial accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements. Bookkeeping & Accounting Oversight - Manage the relationship with external bookkeeping and accounting partners. - Ensure timely and accurate month-end closes, reconciliations, and financial statements. - Improve systems, processes, and automation across accounting and reporting. Spend Management - Manage spend discipline across the organization, including: - Budget adherence - Hiring salary approvals - Corporate credit card strategy, provisioning, rules, and controls - Vendor onboarding and vendor management - Receipt tracking and spend reporting - Lead cost-optimization initiatives and ensure responsible financial stewardship. Risk-Based Contract Financial Management - Oversee financial operations related to full-risk and value-based care contracts. - Validate that capitation payments, stop-loss charges, and shared savings distributions are accurate. - Lead contestations and reconciliation processes with payers as needed. - Guide reserve fund allocation and risk corridor decision-making. - Partner with clinical and operational teams to understand drivers of performance and financial outcomes. What Success Looks Like - Financial Planning & Analysis: Deliver accurate forecasts and budget vs. actual performance, ensuring financial targets are met. - Operational & Spend Management: Maintain disciplined spend, optimize cost efficiency, and ensure compliance with internal policies. - Risk-Based Contract Oversight: Ensure accurate capitation, stop-loss, and shared savings payments while managing reserve funds effectively. - Strategic Leadership: Provide actionable financial insights that drive growth, operational decisions, and strategic initiatives. - Compliance & Controls: Ensure all financial operations meet regulatory, CPOM, and value-based care requirements. About You - Experience: - 10+ years of FP&A, strategic finance, and accounting experience. - 5+ years of leadership experience building and scaling high-performing finance teams and overseeing strategic financial operations. - Strong experience with value-based care or risk-bearing payment models (e.g., Medicare Advantage, global capitation, ACO REACH), including understanding of drivers of medical spend, capitation flows, and performance economics. - Working knowledge of MSO–PC structures and corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) considerations, with the ability to ensure compliant financial operations in a multi-entity environment. - Skills: - Proven ability to translate financial analysis into clear operational levers and strategic decisions across the organization - Comfort operating in a fast-paced, scaling healthcare startup, with a track record of instilling financial discipline and building scalable processes. - Sound judgment and business acumen, with the ability to balance risk, investment, and long-term value creation - Clear, confident communicator who can articulate financial strategy and insights to executive leadership, the Board, and investors - Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across clinical and operational stakeholders. - Hands-on experience with accounting systems, reporting tools, or ERP platforms. - Strong judgment and business acumen, balancing financial risk with strategic opportunity. - Values: You embody our core values of Heart, Excellence, Accountability, Resilience, and Teamwork.
