Electrical Engineer I- Power Focused

Role Description The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for completing design efficiently using industry and organizational standards. They work with project leaders to complete conceptual designs, detailed designs, and associated documentation. An Electrical Engineer I executes simple design concepts independently and completes site visits with others. - Complete electrical design deliverables with supervision using designated tools and software while collaborating with team members, clients, and vendors. - Apply design standards by reviewing best practices and past projects to ensure alignment with company and industry standards. - Build expertise in at least one design discipline with some cross-training to another discipline or Market Lane. - Translate design concepts and standards into deliverables on projects. - Obtain qualifications for site visits by understanding safety and jobsite visit best practices. - Coordinate with project leaders to address and resolve design-related questions for smooth workflow. - Collect and distribute information needed to complete design by working with project leaders, clients, and vendors. - Communicate effectively with team members and clients and support the typical workflow within each discipline. Secondary Responsibilities: - Gain practical experience with manufacturing or craft processes by engaging in field work and collaborating with onsite teams. - Actively participate in internal technical training to grow design skills. - Function as the lead designer on simple projects. Qualifications - A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field from a four-year ABET-accredited program is required. - This is an entry-level position; while 0–3 years of experience is preferred, a combination of relevant education and practical experience, including internships or co-op positions, will also be considered. - Candidates must have knowledge of electrical terminology and components, electrical symbols, and the National Electric Code (NEC). - Proficiency in drafting software is preferred. - EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or a willingness to obtain it is a plus. Requirements - Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. • Reporting to the Director of Power Systems Modeling, you will serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for transmission planning and generation interconnection. • This is a high-impact technical role where your deep understanding of power systems will not only drive complex study work but also serve as the "blueprint" for our software development team. • You are the bridge between traditional electrical engineering and modern digital transformation. • Engage with Stakeholders: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including utilities, RTOs, project developers, and regulatory bodies, to advocate for and advance Simple Thread’s projects. • Support Business Growth: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies for expanding our consulting services, including identifying emerging needs and new market opportunities and service offerings. • Innovate and Improve: Lead the development of innovative methodologies and tools that enhance power systems analysis and streamline processes for both internal and client use. • Execute Complex Power System Studies: Lead and perform advanced transmission planning and generation interconnection studies (System Impact, Feasibility, and Deliverability) across multiple North American markets (WECC, PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP, SERC, etc.). • Technical Authority on Interconnection: Act as the lead expert for both large-scale generation (including IBR) and large-load interconnection requests, navigating the specific tariff and reliability requirements of various RTOs/ISOs. • Product Strategy & SME Support: Collaborate directly with our software engineers to translate complex engineering workflows into automated tools.
