This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of mission‑critical database systems and supports both on‑premises and cloud‑based platforms. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proactive mindset toward data security and system resilience. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Senior Database Analyst, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of GDIT. You will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the OCIO enterprise database environments. - Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and Oracle database environments. - Develop and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. - Monitor database performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. - Ensure security best practices are applied, including cyber protocols, patching, and access controls. - Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and security teams to support application and infrastructure initiatives. - Perform database migration, upgrades, and patching in a controlled and documented manner. - Support cloud‑based database deployments, with familiarity in OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon AWS is considered a strong plus. - Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operating procedures. - Participate in on‑call rotation for critical database support. - Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs or technical staff. - Serve as a team lead on projects or tasks as assigned. The Database Analyst Senior must have: ● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. ● Experience: 7+ years of related experience ● Technical skills: - Proven expertise in database backup/recovery strategies and tools (RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server backup/restore, etc.). - Strong knowledge of database security, auditing, encryption, and cyber protocols. - Hands‑on experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and storage configuration. - Solid understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions (AlwaysOn, Data Guard, clustering, replication). - Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar). - Experience working with OCI and Azure cloud database services. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, or Infrastructure as Code. - Experience with automation tools and monitoring platforms. ● US Person ● Role requirements: - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent communication and documentation skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
