Job Description

Financial Reporting Director

Boston Medical Center (BMC)

• Serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors • Leads the planning, coordination, and timely completion of the annual consolidated system audit • Oversees the annual tax return calendar and ensures timely completion of all required tax filings • Prepares and contributes to financial materials for Board and Committee meetings • Coordinates quarterly and annual external bond reporting and CHIA reporting • Leads consolidated monthly close reporting in coordination with subsidiary entities • Functions as a system-wide technical accounting resource • Maintains effective control procedures across all financial reporting and tax processes • Continuously identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency of financial reporting, audit, and tax functions

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in financial reporting, external audit coordination, or tax compliance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of federal and state nonprofit tax compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent reporting deadlines
  • Ability to review and interpret financial statements
  • Skill in communicating technical accounting concepts clearly
  • Skill in evaluating financial reporting workflows and implementing technology or process changes
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems

As a member of the Executive Team, the Chief Financial Officer sets the enterprise financial strategy and is accountable for financial planning, financial operations, and fiscal sustainability of the organization. This role defines financial priorities, steers accounting and medical economics functions, and guides resource allocation across the enterprise. The position drives achievement of financial performance, contractual and accreditation requirements, and alignment of financial operations with strategic goals.
