Cloud Migration Architect
Presidio
• Develop a comprehensive cloud migration strategy based on business and technical requirements • Assess the current IT landscape and define the scope of migration • Choose the appropriate cloud model (public, private, hybrid, or multi-cloud) and cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Define cost, security, and compliance requirements for cloud adoption • Provide guidance on Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) framework • Develop detailed migration and/or transformation plans • Design cloud architectures that align with scalability, availability, and performance needs • Develop migration plans, including rehosting (lift and shift), re-platforming, re-architecting, and replacing legacy systems • Identify dependencies and risks associated with cloud migration • Ensure the right cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security) are selected for optimal performance • Lead the migration process, ensuring minimal downtime and business disruption • Work closely with DevOps, security, and networking teams to configure cloud environments • Oversee data migration, application refactoring, and integration with cloud-native services • Optimize workloads post-migration for cost-effectiveness and efficiency • Implement security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring • Establish governance policies for cloud resource usage and cost control • Communicate migration progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders • Provide training and guidance to teams on cloud technologies and best practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience or military experience
- 5+ years of experience in the IT industry
- 3+ years of Cloud Migration experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Relevant technology certifications are preferred
- Good understanding of IaaS and PaaS cloud services
- Proficiency in one of the cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with relevant certification(s)
- Knowledge of the main infrastructure building blocks and their basic principles – compute, storage, networking
- Understanding virtualization and experience with a server or desktop virtualization solution (e.g. VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V)
- Experience with cloud or on-premise migration tools and strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to design and explain complex infrastructure solutions
- Excellent project management and client communication skills
- An eagerness to learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving field
