Job Description
Commercial Disputes & Litigation Generalist
LegalVision
Role Description We’re looking for an experienced commercial litigation lawyer to join our team in a unique position focused on supporting and growing our membership client base. Rather than managing a billable caseload, you'll work closely with our membership-based clients to ensure they receive practical, high-quality legal support across a broad range of contentious commercial matters. In this role there are no billable hour targets. Instead, your success will be measured by the value you deliver to clients, the quality of your legal guidance, and your ability to help members achieve better business outcomes. This role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys solving legal problems, building trusted client relationships, and working collaboratively with a team, without the pressure and constraints of traditional private practice. You will have experience across a broad range of disputes matters. Also, experience with managing or mentoring junior lawyers will be considered favourably, as you'll work closely with and support junior team members in their development. On a day-to-day basis, you will: - Work alongside your team to support members with a broad range of commercial disputes enquiries. - Provide strategic legal guidance on complex or high-value matters. - Oversee and coordinate follow-on legal work delivered to members. - Ensure legal matters are appropriately scoped, prioritised and progressed. - Support and guide junior lawyers working on member matters. - Act as a trusted adviser to members, helping them navigate legal issues as their businesses grow. - Collaborate with legal teams across LegalVision to deliver seamless client outcomes. - Identify opportunities to improve the member experience and enhance the value delivered through our membership offering. We assist with a broad range of commercial disputes and contentious matters. Some of the contentious matters we assist with include (among others): - Shareholder and directors disputes; - General commercial contracts disputes; - Leasing, franchising, construction and employment disputes; - Copyright and IP infringement disputes. Qualifications - Australian qualified lawyer with at least 4 years' PQE experience in commercial disputes in a private practice environment. - Demonstrated experience in client relationship management, with a proven ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly and build strong client rapport. - Assisted in advising clients on litigation strategy, assessing case merits, and supporting the preparation of cost estimates and budget forecasts. - Excited to utilise technical legal skills in a more commercial role. Benefits - Meaningfully contribute to the growth and direction of LegalVision in a unique role. - With our 'LV Leave' benefit, receive up to 25 days of paid annual leave per year, with additional days after 2 years of service, plus paid parental leave, birthday leave, and volunteering leave. - Annual budget to spend on external learning and development. - Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches. - Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options. We're also happy to consider applications from candidates based elsewhere in Australia looking to work remotely. How to Apply If this role sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you! Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so you’re encouraged to apply early to avoid missing out. A note to recruiters: we’re all over this role, so there’s no need for you to get in touch. LegalVision does not accept unsolicited CVs or responsibility for any fees related to unsolicited CVs. Thanks!
