RheoSense Inc.
Role Description This is a remote position based in Germany, and the employee’s home office will serve as their primary work location. The role includes travel throughout Germany and Europe for customer visits, installations, and training. RheoSense’s corporate headquarters is located in San Ramon, California, and the position will collaborate regularly with U.S.-based teams. This position will be hired through an Employer of Record (EOR) via Rippling. The EOR will serve as the legal employer in Germany and will administer payroll, statutory benefits, and employment compliance in accordance with all applicable German labor laws. Day-to-day work, responsibilities, and performance management will be directed by RheoSense, Inc. Salary: €65,000–€80,000 base salary, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus. The successful candidate’s starting base salary will be determined by permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the base range for this role. You are a scientifically driven, hands-on Application Scientist who thrives in a fast-paced instrumentation environment. You’re comfortable diagnosing issues on precision instruments, guiding customers through complex workflows, and translating scientific concepts into practical solutions. You collaborate seamlessly with internal teams and support business development efforts through technical expertise, demonstrations, and customer-focused insights. You bring professionalism, calmness under pressure, and a strong service-first mindset that ensures customer success. Job Responsibilities and Expectations - Provide scientific training, demonstrations, and workflow consultations for RheoSense instruments and software. - Translate viscosity, rheology, and microfluidic concepts into practical applications for customer workflows. - Guide customers in method development, data interpretation, and best practices for high-precision viscosity measurements. - Support customers both remotely and on site to ensure successful integration of RheoSense technologies. - Install, configure, and maintain RheoSense instruments at customer sites as needed. - Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure optimal instrument performance and minimal downtime. - Document service activities, customer interactions, and technical findings accurately and promptly. - Provide technical expertise during customer evaluations, demos, and discussions to support business development efforts. - Identify customer needs and communicate insights to sales, engineering, product development, and R&D teams. - Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction during all field and remote interactions. - Travel throughout Germany and Europe as required. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Biophysics); PhD highly desirable. - Hands-on experience with scientific instrumentation, analytical equipment, or laboratory measurement systems. - Demonstrated ability to translate scientific concepts into practical applications. - Technical aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving instrument or system issues. - Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. - Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with global teams. - Fluency in English; German proficiency strongly preferred. - Must reside in Germany and be able to travel domestically and within Europe. - Valid driver’s license. - Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment up to 40 lbs (18 kg). Preferred Qualifications - PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline. - Experience with viscosity, rheology, microfluidics, or related technologies. - Prior applications scientist or customer-facing scientific support experience. - Hands-on experience with instrument installation, calibration, or field service. - Technical support experience for sales or business development. - Strong data analysis and scientific interpretation skills. - Proficiency in German; additional European languages are a plus. Physical Requirements - Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer, providing remote support, or participating in virtual meetings. - Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment. - Ability to move within office and lab environments for instrument handling, installation, or collaboration. - Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment up to 40 lbs (18 kg) and perform hands-on tasks associated with instrument installation and field service work. - Ability to travel for onsite service visits, installations, and customer support across Germany and Europe. Role Description The Program Evaluation, Education, and Research (PEAR) unit, within the Department of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Data Manager. The PEAR unit provides a range of evaluation services within UME, which administers and oversees the four-year medical school curriculum for roughly four hundred students. Evaluation and related services include: - Administering end-of-course evaluations and longitudinal surveys. - Tracking students’ grades and performance on the USMLE licensing exams. - Producing an annual Location Report. The Data Manager will be tasked with: - Managing, administering, and reporting on end-of-course evaluations and/or other evaluation instruments. - Facilitating course review processes. - Collecting, cleaning, aggregating, analyzing, and reporting data for the Location Report. - Producing the Location Report in both printed and digital formats. - Distributing the Location Report to UNM stakeholders within UNM. - Presenting on evaluation findings, the Location Report, and/or associated processes. - Other duties as assigned.
