Transportation Broker – Wholesale
Integrated Specialty Coverages - ISC
• Evaluate new and renewal commercial trucking accounts—up to 40 per week—with premiums ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 • Analyze risk by utilizing loss runs, MVRs, CAB reports, FMCSA data, and other relevant underwriting materials • Make eligibility and pricing recommendations in alignment with underwriting guidelines and carrier appetites • Prepare comprehensive market submissions, quote proposals, and/or coverage comparisons. • Communicate effectively with retail agents and internal stakeholders to gather complete and accurate risk data • Negotiate with carriers to secure competitive terms, leveraging existing market relationships • Track performance of bound accounts to identify profitability issues or loss trends • Address billing, endorsement, cancellation, and invoicing issues in partnership with Premium Accounting • Partner with other teams to support marketing, sales and planning. • Stay up to date on industry trends, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and carrier appetite shifts
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage (trucking, commercial auto, or casualty lines preferred)
- Experience in both wholesale and/or retail brokerage settings
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field preferred
- Professional designations (e.g., TRS, CIC, CPCU, AU) strongly preferred
- Active Property & Casualty license required; Surplus Lines license is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of agency management systems (e.g., AMS360, IMS) a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment
