Personalized Medicine Scientist I

Role Description The Personalized Medicine Scientist I will serve as a scientific resource enabling SCRI’s Personalized Medicine program. The role includes: - Interacting independently with clinical and research colleagues to promote understanding of molecular profiling technologies. - Facilitating patient enrollment on trials. - Assimilating clinical, molecular, and clinical trial data to support SCRI’s Personalized Medicine strategies. - Developing and maintaining a knowledgebase of clinically actionable oncology-specific mutations and matched targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and clinical trials. - Acting as a consultant to support scientific aspects of the Personalized Medicine program. Duties include but are not limited to: - Facilitating trial identification for patients with cancer and Genospace implementation at SCRI Research Sites. - Assisting in the identification of patients for clinical trials and coordinating with research sites for screening. - Analyzing patient molecular profiles to identify potential targeted therapies, clinical trials, or contraindications. - Interacting with medical oncologists, research staff, and care teams to assist in interpreting molecular profiling results. - Maintaining working knowledge of Genospace and related data sources. - Responding to data queries regarding patient data from Research Sites. - Supporting the implementation of Genospace at SCRI Research Sites. - Developing and maintaining tools for maintaining lists of open studies, study drugs, and tumor types accepted for SCRI clinical trials. - Supporting personalized medicine educational initiatives and scientific objectives. - Collaborating with data scientists to analyze and interpret population-level data. - Participating in editing and submitting manuscripts, abstracts, articles, and other publications. - Managing and maintaining a working knowledge of cellular signaling pathways and oncology-specific drug mechanisms of action. - Maintaining working knowledge of current precision oncology publications and molecular profiling technologies. - Collecting key program metrics and implementing improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of workflows. - Participating in Personalized Medicine working groups and training sessions. - Maintaining file management and collaboration systems. - Attending meetings and reporting actions. - Maintaining strictest confidentiality. - Assisting other staff as requested and performing related work as needed. - Maintaining positive and cooperative relationships in day-to-day interactions. Qualifications - Master's Degree required, PhD preferred. - 1+ year work experience and a working understanding of cell biology and cell signaling pathways. - Working knowledge of oncology-specific therapeutics and mechanisms of action. - Understanding of cancer genomics and sequencing technologies. - Understanding of clinical and records-based research processes. - Education may be substituted for partial experience.
