Oracle Database Administrator

Software Mind

• Administer, support, and optimise enterprise Oracle database environments • Ensure high availability, resilience, performance, and security of production database systems • Perform backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and maintenance activities • Support Oracle technologies including Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, RAC, Exadata, Azure and OCI • Participate in cloud transformation initiatives across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Azure • Support Database DevOps, automation, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Azure DevOps • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes • Maintain operational documentation and support project onboarding activities • Participate in on-call rota and out-of-hours support where required • Provide secondary support for Microsoft SQL Server platforms where required

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience administering Oracle database environments in enterprise production settings
  • Strong Oracle 19c / 23ai administration experience
  • Extensive experience with Oracle technologies including Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, SQL, and PL/SQL
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and cloud-based database services
  • Linux administration and shell scripting skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Experience operating within formal incident and change management frameworks
  • Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server database environments is an advantage
  • SQL Server DBA experience including performance tuning and troubleshooting is a plus
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Azure VMs is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Exadata, and Delphix is an advantage
  • Experience with Oracle APEX is beneficial
  • Knowledge of Database DevOps tooling such as Flyway is a plus
  • Financial services or investment management sector experience is a plus
  • Azure DevOps pipeline and Git workflow experience is an advantage

Role Description Will use analytical skills and a detailed understanding of the IT lifecycle to contribute to the Company’s efforts to enhance the resiliency of its IT systems. Will work within the IT Infrastructure organization to help deliver organizational lifecycle goals. Will upgrade or migrate databases to newer versions while following standard protocols and processes and adhering to State Street IT lifecycle methodology. Will be expected to effectively deliver and execute technical projects across multiple engagements. - Performing in a high-tech customer-facing role, with responsibilities encompassing Professional Services, Solution Architecture, Systems Administration, Engineering, and Consulting. - Providing senior-level operational support and implementation of large-scale, enterprise-level solutions, including making decisions and solving problems, utilizing advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of configuration of applications and database migrations. - Designing infrastructure and completing integration into new and existing database systems. - Effectively delivering and executing technical projects across multiple engagements in a customer-facing capacity. - Supporting various configurations using Always On, Mirrors, and related technologies. - Working on ticketing systems, including creating, updating, and closing tickets. - Domestic travel less than 5%; Full-time telecommuting permitted pursuant to company policy. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field. - 7 years of experience in any occupation providing hands-on experience with database migrations. - 5 years of experience in a high-tech customer-facing role. Requirements - Proven in-depth knowledge of Oracle RDBMS multi-terabyte standalone and grid infrastructure (RAC/ASM) on 11g, 12c, 19c across multiple platforms (including Exadata, RHEL, Solaris, AIX, Windows). - Proven in-depth knowledge of Oracle Goldengate and Oracle Data Guard. - Proven in-depth knowledge with Oracle backups and recovery strategies. - Experience with infrastructure and database theories, principles and concepts, application infrastructure and standards, networking fundamentals, physical server architecture, and virtualization technologies (including VMware, Hyper-V and LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN networks). - Demonstrated solid ability in Shell scripting and PowerShell scripting. - Demonstrated understanding of WAN/LAN concepts and the TCP/IP protocol stack. - Strong customer service skills, both written and verbal. - Experience with one or more cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
