Role Description Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for executing and optimizing marketing and communications initiatives that expand brand reach, support revenue and lead generation efforts, and amplify organizational impact. This role operates in alignment with departmental strategy and overall organizational goals, helping bring strategic priorities to life through effective, high-quality execution across digital and traditional channels. The ideal candidate is an innovative, resourceful, and hands-on marketing and communications professional with 4–6 years of experience supporting integrated campaigns, social media strategy, public relations, and brand storytelling across owned, earned, shared, and paid media. This individual thrives in execution-focused work, collaborates effectively with internal teams and external partners, and brings strong experience in audience engagement, strategic communications, proactive brand positioning, and reputation management in support of mission-driven initiatives. Responsibilities - Own and manage all organic social media channels end-to-end, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and performance reporting across platforms. - Take ownership of marketing projects and campaigns delegated by the VP of Marketing, managing timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination with minimal oversight. - Serve as the primary point of contact for paid media vendors and agencies, providing direction, reviewing performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals without direct execution of paid campaigns. - Seek out creative opportunities to elevate the brand through creation of engaging content. - Write and add content to the SSS Website (such as blog articles) and make basic website content updates, as needed. - Support media requests and facilitate interviews of SSS team members, to include helping prepare individuals for interviews. - Understand and map customer journeys to drive results and ensure brand consistency. - Stay on or ahead of brand and digital marketing trends, incorporating changes/updates as needed. - Determine and maintain KPI/Measurement frameworks to ensure plans and content are achieving bottom line growth for the organization. - Monitor and report on marketing performance across channels, synthesizing data into clear insights and recommendations for the VP to inform strategic decisions. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. - 4-6 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications. - Experience managing multiple social media accounts across platforms, with a strong understanding of platform audiences, best practices, trends, and digital marketing channels. - Experience collaborating with agencies and external partners who serve as an extension of the marketing team. - Solid knowledge of marketing tools and best practices; experience with HubSpot preferred, along with familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Ads. - Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with experience creating both research-based and interview-based content that aligns with brand voice. - Strong project management and campaign execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, budgets, and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail. - Critical thinker and innovative problem solver who is comfortable managing ambiguity, experimenting with new ideas, and driving engagement results. - Collaborative and resourceful team player with experience working cross-functionally and managing agency or external partner relationships. - Self-starter with a hands-on approach and willingness to support a variety of marketing and communications initiatives. - Enthusiasm to contribute to Stop Soldier Suicide's mission to end the suicide crisis within the military community. Work Environment and Physical Demands The majority of the work required is performed in an office environment with the flexibility to be fully remote. The team member must be able to effectively maneuver within the office area and perform essential functions necessary to perform the job duties described above. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues in-person, approximately 2x/year. Travel expectations are not expected to exceed 20%. Salary and Benefits - This is a full-time, exempt position.
