Role Description My client, a market leading Consultancy who specialise in building services, electrical engineering and sustainability, is searching for a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join the team across the Central Belt. This is a remote role, with site visits across the region. You will be required in the office, on occasion. As a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will join a supportive team based across the Central Belt to complete electrical designs for residential, commercial and leisure developments using Amtech, DIAlux and AutoCAD. You will have the chance to design lighting, cabling and fire alarm systems for stadiums, residential developments, office blocks and laboratories across Scotland. You will be trained by an experienced team to design using DIAlux, Relux and Amtech and you will attend site visits to review construction projects and discuss design clashes with engineers, contractors and clients. - Design calculations for major building projects. - Assist with site investigations reporting back to design team. - Frequently attend meetings with internal and external design teams, clients, architects and contractors to discuss design concepts. - Deliver projects to time and budget. Qualifications - BSc and/or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Energy, or Building Services. - Keen interest in electrical and building services designs for residential, commercial, and leisure developments. - Experience using Dialux and AutoCAD for detailed designs (beneficial). • Performs detailed electrical engineering tasks including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and electrical system design for federal engineering and design projects. • Prepares electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, project cost estimates, and bid-related documentation in compliance with applicable federal standards, codes, and agency-specific requirements. • Independently execute moderately complex electrical design assignments, applying sound engineering judgment, problem-solving skills, and risk awareness throughout project execution. • Serves as a technical liaison between federal clients, contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to coordinate deliverables, resolve technical issues, and support project schedules. • Coordinates electrical design efforts with multidisciplinary teams and Olsson project teams to ensure integrated, constructible, and high-quality project outcomes. • Works closely with project managers to support project planning, cost control, procurement coordination, progress tracking, and communication of potential technical or schedule-related challenges. • Participates in site visits and inspections, provides technical support during installation, and supports testing and commissioning activities to verify electrical systems perform as intended. • Reviews, coordinates, and may provide oversight or mentorship to less experienced engineers and technical staff. • Supports quality assurance and quality control processes by performing design reviews, field observations, and documentation of design changes, testing results, and key project milestones. • Prepares clear and concise project reports and technical summaries for clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership as required. • Travel and participation in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering conferences. • Ensures all electrical designs and installations align with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, applicable federal agency requirements, and environmental regulations.

• Performs electrical engineering duties related to the evaluation, design, and documentation of electrical systems for small to large-scale federal projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related building systems. • Applies standard electrical engineering techniques, methods, and procedures to develop constructible, code-compliant designs while evaluating and proposing minor adaptations to meet project-specific needs. • Prepares electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates in accordance with applicable codes, federal standards, and agency requirements. • Assists with preparation and coordination of project documents and maintains awareness of project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. • Coordinates electrical design elements with other engineering disciplines and internal project teams to support integrated project outcomes. • Communicates project development and progress with project managers and may participate in coordination efforts with federal clients, contractors, and consultants. • Performs process design calculations, analyzes engineering data, and supports feasibility evaluations for proposed electrical systems. • Enters, maintains, and updates project information and documentation within Olsson’s project management systems in accordance with the firm’s Quality Management Program. • Diagnoses and assists in resolving technical design issues and supports quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution. • May provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced engineers or technical staff as assigned. • Travel and participation in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering conferences. • May travel to project sites and work in varying terrain and weather conditions during different stages of construction.
