Role Description Engineering Manager role leading a fullstack AI-powered product squad. We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is a force multiplier: someone who can lead a fullstack squad through an ambitious AI-product evolution, who personally uses modern AI tooling, and who raises the bar for engineering excellence. Qualifications - 5+ years of engineering experience with hands-on fullstack or backend work in production systems. - 2+ years leading a cross-functional engineering team. - Experience delivering products that depend on AI/ML systems. - Daily user of AI development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot. - Strong product instinct and ability to form technical opinions from research data. - Comfort with ambiguity in AI-product development. - Fluent English - spoken and written. Requirements - Lead a fullstack squad of engineers (backend, frontend, QA) and one embedded AI engineer, owning the Speaking Tutor product end-to-end. - Own the technical strategy for the squad's product requirements: conversation quality, feedback accuracy, adaptive difficulty, scaffolding, and classroom reliability. - Ship with velocity and rigor, balancing rapid experimentation with production stability. - Champion AI-powered engineering and drive adoption across your team. - Partner with Product and Research to translate user research into technical roadmap decisions. - Grow your people through effective 1:1s and coaching. - Drive Engineering Excellence in observability, CI/CD, testing strategies, incident response, and more. Interview Process - Three rounds. 2.45 hours total. - Round 1 – Hiring Manager Call (1 hour): Leadership, engineering culture, and a short live exercise with AI tooling. - Round 2 – Technical & System Design (1 hour): Call with an engineer from the team, covering frontend, backend, and architectural discussions. - Round 3 – Product & Stakeholder Alignment (45 min): With the Product Manager, focusing on prioritization, cross-functional collaboration, and navigating trade-offs between product and engineering.
