Title: Intermediate Professional, Civil Engineering Location: Philadelphia United States Job Description: This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intermediate Professional in Civil Engineering for our Exton, Pennsylvania office. The following locations will also be considered: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Site Civil Engineering Team and will be a part of our growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. This position will be offered as an on-site, hybrid or fully remote opportunity Candidate will perform technical designs and permitting tasks of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Tasks will include assisting with civil engineering aspects for projects such as the research, design, concept development, permit application preparation and construction support of energy projects such as transmission lines, substations, and large scale solar projects. Candidate will perform and become trained in stormwater management design and calculations for new project sites using hydraflow software, grading design using civil 3d software, road and channel design, and erosion and sediment control design for plans for NPDES permits and civil construction documents. Candidate will ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Your Impact - Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and update layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. - Work as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects. - Receive guidance and training from senior-level engineers. - Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. - Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices. - Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with authorities on Federal, State, regional, and local development projects. - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. - Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience). - 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience. 2 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior civil design experience. - Proficient knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues. - Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations. - Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. - Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. - Experience with technical writing and discipline-specific design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Hydraflow. - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. - Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Project Manager focusing on Mission Critical Data Center projects within our Community Development Group. Within this team, you will have the opportunity to work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country. The Mission Critical space requires a very proactive, responsive, and efficient design team with projects serving Fortune 10 companies who are making headlines with transformational projects. The candidate will work directly with clients to successfully implement and manage project design and construction administration. The candidate will be responsible for Project Management, development of project team members, and for supporting and managing civil site design services of private data center projects. This position will coordinate, and lead project teams focused on engineering and construction related services. Your Key Responsibilities - Work with multidisciplinary teams to undertake site development projects related to their planning, design and engineering. Client types include private developers, general contractors, and architects. - Seeking a motivated individual who is, enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized, and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Strong interest in the Mission Critical / Data Center market and major commercial projects. - Be a responsive partner with excellent communication skills. - Be proactive, solution-oriented, and work well within a cooperative team environment. - Ability to be flexible and react accordingly to dynamic project needs on tight timelines and fast paced schedules. - Ability to perform duties with virtual coordination as the team is officed across various geographic regions. - Understanding of civil engineering concepts (i.e. site layout, grading, utility design, etc.) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. - Manage and lead technical work depending on scope/size of project. - Responsible for large projects of high complexity. - Liaise with clients and sub-consultants and ensure that the project's/client's needs are met in a timely and effective manner. - Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. - Ability to review, markup, and coordinate the delivery of documentation in various project phases including site plans, utility plans, grading plans, stormwater systems as well as other components of the project. - Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. - Thorough understanding of the land development process and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. - Assist the design team in the creation of sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. - Assist with proposal development, interviews, and presentations. - Market and support client growth throughout North America. - Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers. - Develops and manages the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule. - Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers. - Assists in the development of new standards and processes for the team. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Strong understanding of all phases of project document production - Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards. - Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production. - Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule. - Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. - Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others. - Advanced oral and written communication skills. - Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams. - Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Planning, or related field - Minimum of 8 years of experience. Pay Range: - Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas-$90,900.00 - $131,800.00 Annually - Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$100,000.00 - $145,000.00 Annually Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
