Role Description We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Tech Lead) for a new Robot Learning team focused on whole-body loco-manipulation for precision tasks in heavy manufacturing. - Set the ML technical direction for the team, including architectural choices on perception, reasoning, and action generation; training methodology; and data strategy. - Own the architectural workstreams that define the team's research and engineering bets across action-policy learning, world-model-based supervision, and policy-orchestration interfaces. - Design hybrid physics-ML architectures for the integrated loco-manipulation stack, ensuring real-time compensation for base motion. - Own cross-functional partnerships with hardware teams, domain experts, and customer-facing assurance standards. - Drive a phased deployment strategy that builds production trust over time. - Mentor and shape the team, guiding junior and intermediate ICs across software, ML, robotics, and perception backgrounds. - Establish code-quality standards, review practices, and engineering norms while writing code throughout. Qualifications - Ph.D. or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience. - 5+ years of hands-on robot learning experience with sim-to-real policies on real robots. - Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship experience. - Deep sim-to-real expertise, including domain randomisation and system identification. - Full-stack robot learning proficiency across simulation construction, policy training, data collection, real-world deployment, and failure diagnosis. - Experience with physics-informed ML or hybrid control. - Strong programming skills in Python and C++. - Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts. - Demonstrated independent technical authority in a tech-lead capacity. Requirements - Edge inference depth (TensorRT, ONNX, edge-class deployment). - Loco-manipulation experience on legged platforms. - Precision manipulation or surgical robotics experience. - Flow-matching action-head design experience. - Visual self-supervised representation learning experience on robot or 3D-vision tasks. - Multi-skill workflow or hierarchical policy design experience. - Experience building ML capability from early stage. Role Description At Phantasma Labs, we’re building smart software that helps factories plan better. We work with manufacturers across Europe and the US and team up with ERP and MES providers to bring our solution directly into real production workflows. We’re based in Berlin, but remote-first, so you don’t have to be here to join us. Position SummaryThe Machine Learning Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of Large language and machine learning models, with a primary focus on data preprocessing, model training, and fine-tuning using large-scale healthcare datasets. This role requires a strong understanding of Large language models, machine learning principles, data engineering, and experience working with sensitive healthcare data. Key Responsibilities - Data Preprocessing: Clean, transform, and prepare large, complex healthcare datasets for machine learning model development. This includes handling missing values, outlier detection, feature engineering, and data normalization. Identify, collect, and curate relevant, industry-specific datasets for model retraining. Format data appropriately for the chosen LLM and training pipeline - Model Training & Fine-Tuning: Design, train, and fine-tune various LLMs on extensive healthcare data to solve specific clinical or operational problems. Set up and manage the training environment, including GPU instances and required software. Train and fine-tune pre-trained LLMs on the custom dataset to achieve specific goals.
