About the job: This role exposes you to a wide variety of client environments across all cloud providers, on premise deployments and everything in between. If the idea of driving best practices in the observability/SRE space to provide direct business impact excites you then this is the role for you! This role requires you to currently live in Australia. What you'll do: - Develop quality configurations in YAML and JSON - Work closely with clients and team members from diverse backgrounds to deliver projects - Build cloud and on-prem monitoring solutions for Infrastructure, APM, and Logs - Build grok patterns for custom logs - Modify code to send traces and subtraces to Datadog - Analyze and maintain existing software applications - Write custom scripts in shell, Python, PowerShell - Design highly scalable, testable configuration tools What you have: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field - Experience with systems administration - Linux/Unix experience with on-prem or cloud systems - Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously - Self-learner and eager to understand new technologies - Experience in a modern monitoring platform is a plus - Scripting/programming experience in shell, Python, Go, or PowerShell is a plus - Flexibility around US working hours as customer engagements dictate - Flexibility around customer on site work as customer engagements dictate Compensation: - Base Salary: $140,000- $190,000 (USD) annually, depending on experience Benefits - Generous and competitive private healthcare coverage (country dependent) - Unlimited Paid Time Off (4-week minimum) (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays) - Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity) - Fitness Subsidies - Equity (without a vesting period) RapDev is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Key Responsibilities - Cloud Storage & Migration Workflow Evaluation - Review cloud storage scenarios involving migration options, transfer methods, storage architecture, object counts, file sizes, and enterprise storage requirements. - Evaluate migration planning outputs against practical storage administration standards, transfer constraints, time estimates, and operational needs. - Assess trade-offs between online and offline transfer methods, including interconnect considerations, cost factors, and execution feasibility. - Identify incomplete guidance, incorrect assumptions, migration risks, and expected storage workflow outcomes. - Agent Testing & User Journey Review - Test natural-language storage management workflows across discovery, planning, validation, execution, and reporting stages. - Evaluate agent-generated responses for completeness, accuracy, practical usefulness, and alignment with real storage administrator expectations. - Execute or review simulated dry-run migration journeys and identify issues that could affect reliability or successful completion. - Provide structured feedback on agent responses, user journey quality, and technical failure modes. - Reporting, Calibration & Quality Feedback - Prepare evaluation reports, issue logs, outcome comparisons, and structured feedback summaries. - Compare planned migration outcomes against actual or simulated results, including variance analysis and progress reporting. - Support scoring calibration by documenting expert findings and recommendation patterns. - Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted work. Qualifications - Experience in cloud storage administration, enterprise storage management, infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, platform engineering, data migration, or related technical roles. - Strong understanding of cloud storage concepts, migration strategies, transfer sizing, object storage, access patterns, and operational reliability. - Familiarity with cloud storage platforms such as AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, or similar systems. - Hands-on experience with data migration workflows, online or offline transfer methods, transfer planning, storage traffic simulation, or migration validation. - Ability to evaluate AI-generated technical recommendations from a practitioner's perspective. - Strong written communication skills and ability to document findings clearly.
