Company Description Why we need you Jodel is looking for a senior, hands-on Monetisation and LiveOps Lead to architect and scale our in-app purchase (IAP) and subscription business from a strong 7-figure ARR to 8-figure revenue. Lead monetisation strategy end-to-end — shaping pricing, tiering, packaging, promotions, and LiveOps systems grounded in user psychology and behavioral economics. You focus on e.g. driving conversion, ARPPU and more through data-led experimentation and cross-functional initiatives. We’re looking for someone who has successfully scaled monetisation in a freemium/F2P consumer app and thrives in fast-moving environments. Your Mission - Own and operate the commercial LiveOps strategy, including pricing frameworks, promotional cadence, experimentation roadmap, and execution of a data-driven commercial calendar. - Apply a strong F2P mindset by balancing free vs. premium value, designing clear upgrade paths, and creating sustainable monetisation mechanics in close collaboration with Product. - Define and evolve the monetisation roadmap, scaling subscriptions first and expanding into consumables, repeat purchase loops, and long-term ARPPU growth systems. - Hands-on usage of tools like RevenueCat to e.g. set up products, paywalls, targeting, and experiments; monitor key metrics and troubleshoot performance changes. - Own the analytical performance view across conversion, retention, ARPU/LTV, pricing, FX, and cohort behavior, identifying and prioritizing the highest-impact growth levers with focus and clarity. - Lead complex, cross-functional monetisation initiatives (e.g., tiering, packaging, pricing structures) across placements, clients, and geographies, ensuring measurable revenue impact. - Strengthen subscription foundations by driving stakeholder alignment, ensuring robust tooling and measurement, and pragmatically improving processes to enable scalable growth. What do we value in our Engineering team? Praktikum - Jodel Ambassador Project Warum das dufte wird: Your first 30 days What you need to succeed - 5+ years in Freemium monetisation or LiveOps (mobile games OR high-scale freemium apps) - Proven track record in IAP growth, ideally “vitamin” rather than “painkiller” products. - Strategic understanding of freemiumbusiness mechanics and growth tactics across the funnel in social or multiplayer apps. - Experience operating a live-service product with strong understanding of digital app economy design principles and analytics skills: ability to interpret data, create coherent narratives, and translate insights into prioritized actions. - Deep knowledge of behavioral psychology in monetisation to design monetisation hooks aligned with user motivations while avoiding over-monetisation fatigue. - Excellent project and stakeholder management in complex, multi-market contexts. - High ownership: hands-on, self-driven, resilient, and comfortable doing the majority of execution personally. What attitude are we looking for? Why Jodel - Events to foster culture - Paid Company Offsites and Team Offsites every year with destinations all across Europe and MENA. Deine Aufgaben The Role We are looking for a technically curious working student who wants to shape how an entire organization works with AI. Our company is scaling its digital infrastructure, and we see enormous potential in using Large Language Models and AI-powered tools to automate workflows across departments — from operations and sales to lab coordination and internal reporting. Your mission: identify manual, repetitive, or inefficient business processes and build smart, LLM-driven solutions that actually ship. You won’t be writing theoretical concepts — you’ll be deploying real automations that change how our teams work every day. You will be supported by our tech team for anything that requires on-premise infrastructure or deployment, but you should understand the landscape well enough to design solutions with those constraints in mind. Key Responsibilities AI Workflow Design & Automation (Primary Focus) - Work alongside the operations lead and business stakeholders to assess defined automation needs — your core judgment call is where AI-based approaches genuinely add value versus where a classic software solution is more robust, cost-effective, and maintainable. - Evaluate and select the right tools for each use case — from commercial AI services (Claude Code, LLM APIs) to open-source, on-premise solutions — balancing capability, cost, and long-term maintainability. Then design and build the workflows using those tools. - Prototype agentic workflows that combine AI capabilities with existing business systems (CRM, databases, internal tools). - Continuously test, refine, and document your automations so they remain maintainable and transparent to non-technical stakeholders. Process Orchestration & Integration - Build and maintain automation pipelines using orchestration tools (e.g., n8n, Make) to connect our CRM, lab data, and internal databases. - Develop and optimize Python scripts for data validation, transformation, and API integrations. Internal Tooling & Reporting - Support the creation of dashboards and lightweight internal tools that turn raw data into actionable insights for management. - Where appropriate, build simple web interfaces to make your automations accessible to the wider team. Dein Profil Your Profile Must-Haves - Education: Currently enrolled in a higher education program in Germany, with plans to remain a student for at least 1 year (ideally 2). Master’s programs in Informatics, Business Information Systems, Data Science, Digital Management, or similar are preferred. Bachelor’s students with significant relevant experience are welcome. - Prior work experience: At least one completed internship or working student position in a technical or digital role. - Python: Strong, demonstrable proficiency — this is your primary working language. - AI/LLM fluency: Hands-on experience using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar), AI-assisted coding tools, or building prompt-based workflows. You understand what LLMs are good at, where they fail, and how to integrate them into real processes. - Databases: Solid understanding of how data is stored and queried (SQL at minimum). - Process thinking: You approach problems by understanding the business process first, then choosing the right technical solution — not the other way around. - Language: Fluent English is essential. Nice-to-Haves - Professional fluency in German. - Experience with workflow orchestration platforms (n8n, Make, Apache Airflow). - Familiarity with web development (JavaScript, simple frontend frameworks) for building internal tools. - Understanding of deployment and infrastructure basics (Docker, APIs, self-hosted models, cloud vs. on-premise trade-offs) — you won’t manage infrastructure, but you should be able to have an informed conversation with the team that does. - Broad data literacy: how data is generated, processed, stored, governed, and turned into value. - Exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or version control workflows. Warum wir? What We Offer - 100% Remote: Complete flexibility to balance work with your studies, with async-friendly communication. - Real impact: You will work directly on the company’s AI and digital strategy. Your automations will ship to real users and measurably improve how teams operate. - Autonomy with support: You own your projects end-to-end, with a tech team available for infrastructure, deployment, and architectural guidance. - Modern tools: You’ll work with current AI models and APIs, orchestration platforms, Python-based tooling, and a growing internal data stack. - Growth: This is not a “fetch coffee and update spreadsheets” role. You will build portfolio-worthy projects while gaining hands-on experience at the intersection of AI and business operations.
