Driving this change is the evolution of the Pharmacy role in healthcare and the increasing emphasis on private models of care. The expectations of pharmacies and pharmacists in the health care ecosystem are quickly evolving and will require transformation for the future. Many pharmacies are just beginning to embrace the technologies and customer service innovation, and as specialty and retail pharmacies reinvent themselves to meet the evolving needs of their patients, the Lead, Pharmacy Partnership and Trade will establish the vision and strategy for how AbbVie will partner with these key stakeholders to optimize the patient experience and grow our business now and in the future. Patients are also evolving, as are their needs and expectations of their experience at the pharmacy. Whether it be a focus on convenience by experimenting with new, digital capabilities of their pharmacy, or seeking higher-touch clinical support models, these increasing patient demands put pressure on manufactures such as AbbVie to define our future specialty and retail pharmacy value propositions and identify stakeholders in the channel to partner with to navigate this complex environment. The Lead, Pharmacy Innovation and Trade will be responsible for: - Creating a strategic vision for Pharmacy that aligns to Abbvie’s TA’s to deliver better patient health outcomes and efficient care pathways. - Designing the appropriate organizational structure with future focussed capabilities - Leading a team (that efficiently manages the channel (trade/ wholesale / hospital and direct distribution) of abbvie products ensuring forecasts are accurate and supply is effectively managed to ensure patients have access to Abbvie products. - Leading a team that identifies business opportunities in the fast-evolving environment in specialty, retail pharmacy and distribution channel - Implementing project and partnership initiatives with pharmacy and wholesaler stakeholders in support of AbbVie products. - Working effectively with AVP colleagues in Private Healthcare, RWE, Digital and Commercial colleagues This role requires a high level of expertise in the pharmacy and distribution channel including a keen understanding of its complexities and challenges, coupled with experience developing strategic pharmacy partnerships and distribution models with an eye towards innovation. Key job responsibilities include: - Establish the vison and strategic framework to innovate and create best-in-class distribution and patient access models in both the specialty and retail channel with emphasis on the evolving role of pharmacy. - Oversee the development of AbbVie’s strategy to partner with specialty pharmacies / Retail chains and banners in their effort to accelerate connectivity with patients, enhancing the overall patient experience. - Ensure the execution of launch excellence in the Trade channel by overseeing the successful preparation of a diverse mix of stakeholders in order to drive key launches - Synthesize complex, and sometimes incomplete, pharmacy data sets in order to inform key strategic decisions and forecasting and measure team performance - Manage relationships with senior level internal cross-functional partners including commercial, finance, customer service, communications, supply and market access - Lead for Trade in partnership with commercial and finance leadership ensuring collaboration around Trade strategies and their impact on PLAN and LRP. - Lead or support cultivating relationships with key external stakeholders in trade channel, including Specialty and Retail pharmacies, vendors and other strategic partners - Partner with Market Access Leadership Team to assess impact of and develop strategies to address government and/or payer policy changes on AbbVie’s portfolio of products, and lead related pharmacy or pharmacist initiatives. - Coach and develop direct reports in order to elevate their expertise in the trade channel and exposure across therapeutic areas while driving a culture of inclusion with an emphasis on professional development in order to retain, develop and attract talent - Effectively manage the strategic operations of AVP including VEEVA, reporting for in field team, department meetings and other organizational components - Lead negotiator on Key contracts relating to wholesale and direct distribution, hospital contract and other RFP’s as per the business needs including alternative channels. Qualifications Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Business, Health Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred - Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy services, trade operations, or similar roles within the pharmaceutical industry - Marketing experience is a requirement - Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills - Experienced people leadership (min. 3 years) and managing cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives - Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills - Experience with contract negotiation - Customer centric mindset - Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products Essential skills and abilities: - English language proficiency (oral and written). French language an asset. - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.). - Must be at ease with technology (the use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).
