The Role The Emerging Experiences team is a senior design group focused on exploring what is next for GM's digital experiences. The team operates ahead of product delivery, translating emerging technologies and customer behaviors into early concepts and frameworks for web and mobile platforms. As a Senior Product Designer, you will focus on the structure and logic of future digital products, shaping information architecture, interaction models, and system behavior. Your work ensures emerging ideas form coherent, scalable product foundations that can evolve into production experiences. What You'll Do - Define clear product structures and information architectures that organize complex features, services, and user journeys. - Design scalable interaction models that work consistently across web and mobile platforms. - Translate emerging ideas and technologies into tangible product frameworks, prototypes, and experience models. - Create high-fidelity interface designs that clearly communicate systems across key screens, states, and flows. - Identify reusable patterns and contribute to shared design systems and component libraries. - Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to explore and validate new concepts. - Elevate design quality through systems thinking, critique, and mentorship within the design team. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) - Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - 8 or more years of experience in product, UX, or interaction design for web and or mobile platforms. - Proven experience designing complex digital products with strong systems and information architecture. - Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear UX frameworks and interaction models. - Advanced proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma. - Strong collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional, distributed environment. Compensation: - The expected base compensation for this role is: ($188,200-288,500). The Role The Emerging Experiences team is a senior design group focused on shaping what is next for GM's digital ecosystem. The team works ahead of roadmap execution, exploring new interaction models, technologies, and customer behaviors across web, mobile, and intelligent experiences. As a Principal Designer, you will define future-facing experience paradigms through concept work, prototyping, and interaction frameworks that influence long-term product and brand direction. This role blends hands-on design craft with strategic leadership and close collaboration with product, engineering, marketing, and research partners. What You'll Do - Lead exploration and definition of future digital experience paradigms across web and mobile platforms. - Create north-star concepts, interaction models, and prototype experiences that inform GM's long-term digital strategy. - Establish experience frameworks and design patterns that product teams can evolve into production systems. - Define experiential language, interaction principles, and storytelling approaches for emerging digital journeys. - Partner closely with product, engineering, research, and marketing teams to validate concepts through experimentation. - Guide and influence cross-functional teams by translating emerging technologies and behaviors into actionable design direction.
