Company : Black & Veatch Mgmt Consulting Req Id : 114529 Opportunity Type : Staff Relocation eligible : No Full time/Part time : Full-Time Project Only Hire : No Visa Sponsorship Available: No Duties Duties: The Solar Consultant contributes to technical due diligence engagements for multiple types of assets, including solar and battery energy storage renewable energy projects on behalf of lenders and investors, serving in a supporting role to a multi-disciplinary team of Independent Engineering and Technical Due Diligence consultants. This is a key role on a team of engineers, consultants, and financial analysts, with the expectation to provide subject matter expertise in solar production estimating methodology. Consultants in this practice generally work on multiple concurrent projects at a given time. Communicate with stakeholders in solar PV project financial transactions, ranging from developers to financial institutions. Possess and maintain a deep understanding of solar production estimating industry practices and assumptions to ensure tools and processes reflect best-in-class offering. Review and or execute solar resource and yield simulation of PV power plants using PVsyst. Provide quality reviews on production estimates to produce reports suitable for commercial and contractual use. Review operating data from operating solar PV power plants. Periodically fine-tune our assumptions by using actual historical operating data. Present data in meaningful formats to be used by project teams. Support project teams to discuss results with clients. Conduct data analysis and translate into written reports and presentations. Contribute to the quality review of our deliverables. Ascertain and meet client expectations within the scope of the engagement role. Develop applicable knowledge bases by using best practices to redefine tools and techniques. Outline specific performance measures, targets, and goals to articulate the business case for realized efficiencies or added value. Industry Knowledge Capabilities: Leverage experience with plant engineering and design, inspections, outage assessment, plant and portfolio budget processes, equipment condition assessment, capital project assessments, reliability/availability assessments, conduct field observations, performance assessments, and/or financial analysis and models. Utilize specialized knowledge to produce moderately complex work products and solutions across many phases of an engagement or one phase of a more complex engagement. Apply appropriate methods or recognized equivalents to identified client needs. Anticipate and resolve technical problems with occasional technical assistance from others. Develop, present, and defend conclusions, recommendations, and implementation plans. Analyze and apply best practices knowledge of the relevant industries. No hire/fire authority. Requirements Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in energy systems, engineering, or a related field plus at least four years of related experience in an engineering or business consulting environment. Related experience must include working with renewable energy technologies, including solar PV and battery energy storage, completing transaction engagement, and due diligence lifecycle. Must have technical experience and industry knowledge in power generation, including plant operations, engineering, consulting, and management. Must have demonstrated experience utilizing solar production estimating tools including PVSyst to create solar production forecasts and methodologies. Must have experience operating multiple software packages. Must have experience working with solar facility design documentation. Must have experience facilitating communication and collaboration across multiple parties to achieve project goals; Must have experience leading stakeholder meetings and addressing / resolving any project related client queries. Must have experience working within all functions of a typical rooftop, carport or ground mounted solar system and its components from electrical, civil, structural, procurement, and construction perspectives for site visits. Must have experience working with bifacial modules, single axis trackers, and all associated parameters involved including optimizing the Ground Coverage Ratio, maximizing bifacial gains, electrical characteristics of modules and inverters, and backtracking. Must have experience in performance ratio calculations, availability analysis, monitoring platforms and bifacial PV systems, trackers, and storage hybrid systems. Must have experience supporting technical due diligence and investment-grade energy reports. Must have experience keeping up-to-date with recent energy market ongoings, technologies, innovations, and flaws with any products to help the client consulting business. This position allows for fully remote work. National travel for site visits required up to 25% of the time. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. At a high level, these processes involve the following: - Visioning: Lead the client in developing their case for support and campaign budget. - Feasibility study: Confirm a realistic campaign goal through interviews with key donors and stakeholders. - Campaign implementation: Serve as the primary project manager for the campaign, ensuring activities happen on time and with integrity.
