Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Mechanical Engineer IV to lead the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanical utility systems across complex, multidisciplinary projects. This role is responsible for managing the mechanical discipline scope, budget, and schedule through all phases of project delivery—from site selection and master planning to commissioning and startup. The Mechanical Engineer IV will serve as a technical leader and mentor, overseeing the work of junior and senior engineers and designers. This position requires deep knowledge of mechanical systems, strong coordination skills, and the ability to interface with clients, architects, engineers, construction managers, vendors, and trade partners. Depending on the project, this role may serve as the Lead Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer, with responsibilities tailored accordingly. Key Responsibilities - Lead the mechanical discipline on projects of varying size and complexity, managing scope, budget, and schedule. - Act as Engineer-of-Record and direct the work of mechanical engineering and design staff. - Develop and review technical documentation including: - Load calculations, utility assessments, and energy modeling - Design reports, code evaluations, and equipment specifications - P&IDs, plans, schedules, and installation details - Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a fully integrated and constructible design. - Conduct and lead field surveys, identify non-compliant conditions, and support field reporting. - Provide advanced support during construction, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and progress reporting. - Drive quality assurance through document reviews and technical verification. - Mentor and train less experienced engineers and designers. - Lead system design programming and master planning efforts. - Support proposal development, task planning, and project scheduling in collaboration with Project Managers. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus) from an ABET-accredited program. - PE (Professional Engineer) license in good standing. - Minimum of 10 years of experience for Lead Mechanical Engineer roles. - Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior Mechanical Engineer roles. - Advanced experience in HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design and implementation. - Strong knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and building codes.
