Associate Director, Promotional Planning & Strategy

Thrive Market

ABOUT THRIVE MARKET Thrive Market was founded in 2014 with a mission to make healthy and sustainable living easy and affordable for everyone. As an online, membership-based market, we deliver the highest quality healthy, and sustainable products at member-only prices, while matching every paid membership with a free one for someone in need. Every day, we leverage innovative technology and member-first thinking to help our over 1,700,000+ members find better products, support better brands, and build a better world in the process. We are also a Certified B Corporation, a Public Benefit Corporation, and a Climate Neutral Certified company. Join us as we bring healthy and sustainable living to millions of Americans in the years to come. THE ROLEThis is a highly cross-functional, high-visibility role at the center of how we drive growth. You’ll sit at the intersection of marketing, merchandising, analytics, and operations, shaping our promotional strategy while ensuring flawless execution across a fast-moving, high-volume calendar. The role requires equal parts big-picture thinking and hands-on execution: strong commercial instincts, exceptional analytical rigor, comfort pulling and interrogating data yourself, and the ability to translate insights into clear direction for partners and leadership. This is an evolving space for our business, and we’re looking for someone excited to build structure, introduce new tools and processes, and help define what best-in-class promotional strategy looks like for years to come. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Own and evolve our daily promotions and gift-with-purchase strategy, transforming a high-volume, fast-paced calendar into a growth engine that drives long-term company and category performance. - Design and execute a structured testing roadmap across offer types, spend thresholds, messaging, and mechanics — clearly defining success metrics, synthesizing insights, and driving cross-functional alignment on optimizations and next steps. - Serve as the primary liaison to cross-functional marketing teams (CRM, creative, content, social, acquisition, etc.), ensuring full visibility into the promotional roadmap and maximizing reach and performance across channels. - Own the full promotional lifecycle, from concept development and offer strategy through creative briefing, optimization, and final asset approval — ensuring campaigns are commercially compelling and operationally seamless. - Independently pull, analyze, and synthesize promotional performance data (weekly, monthly, quarterly), translating insights into actionable optimizations that improve future results. - Leverage your deep understanding of promotional performance to refine financial forecasts, partnering closely with Demand Planning to ensure operational readiness and seamless execution. - Lead the evaluation and implementation of a campaign planning tool to enable upfront performance forecasting, structured scenario planning, and more intentional, data-informed promotional strategy. - Oversee the promotional P&L for our owned brands (Thrive Market Goods, Rosey, wellmade & f.a.e.), leveraging performance data to inform assortment decisions and future promotional strategy. - Support, and often lead, company-wide and executive-level presentations, translating complex promotional performance into clear, actionable narratives. - Manage and mentor a small, high-performing team, driving clarity of roles and priorities while fostering professional growth and continuously refining team structure to meet evolving business needs. QUALIFICATIONS - 6–10+ years of experience in pricing, promotions, revenue management, or growth strategy within retail, ecommerce, or CPG businesses; retailer-side experience preferred. - Proven experience owning promotional or pricing strategy end-to-end, with clear accountability for revenue, margin, and growth outcomes. - Strong analytical capabilities, with comfort independently pulling and analyzing data (SQL, Excel, BI tools) to inform decisions and shape strategy. - Experience developing overarching promotional strategy and partnering on messaging and creative concepting to drive conversion. - Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across marketing, merchandising, analytics, and operations. - A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution; comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get the job done. BELONG TO A BETTER COMPANY - Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision, life and disability) - Competitive salary (DOE) + equity - 401k plan - 9 Observed Holidays - Flexible Paid Time Off - Subsidized ClassPass Membership with access to fitness classes and wellness and beauty experiences - Ability to work in our beautiful office in Playa Vista - Free Thrive Market membership with exclusive employee discount - Coverage for Life Coaching & Therapy Sessions on our holistic mental health and well-being platform We're a community of more than 1 Million + members who are united by a singular belief: It should be easy to find better products, support better brands, make better choices, and build a better world in the process.
