Manager, Rating Systems (Remote)

Summary The Manager, Rating Systems leads the implementation, accuracy, and ongoing performance of insurance product rates within the Earnix platform, ensuring high‑quality rating products that drive Market Pricing and organizational results. This leader guides a team of analysts, providing direction on product delivery, process improvements, and system optimization while partnering closely with Actuarial, Product, IT, and other cross‑functional teams to translate complex requirements into scalable rating solutions. They also define and manage foundational process changes when needed, lead smooth change management across stakeholders, and support the team's technical, industry, and professional development to ensure strong execution and future growth. Responsibilities Product & System Ownership - Lead end‑to‑end management of rating products and services within the Earnix system, including: - Accurate, timely product implementation - Post‑production validation and rate maintenance - Full adherence to governance procedures and documentation standards - Ensure all product requirements are fully identified, documented, and communicated to the Earnix support team by the appropriate business unit. - Partner closely with IT to coordinate product implementation, ongoing maintenance, and issue resolution. Technical Execution & Quality Assurance - Remedy system defects with urgency appropriate to issue severity while safeguarding progress on strategic corporate initiatives. - Solve complex business problems using experience, analytical rigor, and data‑supported solutions—always upholding governance standards. - Manage and support additional product functions on an ad‑hoc basis as needed. - Maintain alignment between department deliverables and the operational and budgetary goals of the organization. Cross‑Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management - Effectively collaborate with senior leaders, internal teams, and external partners to ensure accurate interpretation of requirements and appropriate action. - Manage process changes and stakeholder expectations with clarity, consistency, and strong communication. - Communicate and negotiate confidently with senior management and external personnel regarding system capabilities, project status, and implementation outcomes. - Cultivate strong working relationships across departments, serving as a key member of cross‑functional teams. Team Leadership, Talent Development & Knowledge Management - Provide technical training for computer languages and department software, including SAS, SQL, and other tools. - Offer foundational insurance training for less‑experienced employees. - Support the career development of team members—including paths toward technical specialization or management. - Define appropriate decision‑making authority for team members and coach them through complex situations. - Lead the team in proactively identifying existing or emerging process issues and drive remediation using project management best practices. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement - Recognize and escalate opportunities to improve or redesign processes when such changes will materially enhance performance. - Apply cost/benefit analysis to determine when modifications are appropriate. - Utilize existing and new data sources to build complex processes from scratch as needed. - Innovate and refine processes using strong industry knowledge, technical expertise, and an understanding of operational realities. Qualifications Education - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in a specialized field preferred. Experience & Technical Skills - 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in related roles. - 1–2 years of experience managing at least one employee. - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office. - Thorough knowledge of Python or SQL. - Experience with Earnix, R, or Insure Quote preferred—especially for pricing‑focused environments. - Deep familiarity with Mapfre’s IT systems, insurance operations, regulatory requirements, accounting processes, and general policy administration/claims workflows. - Demonstrated experience building and managing new and existing data sources. - Proven ability to design complex processes from the ground up. - Strong understanding of industry practices, standards, and concepts, with the ability to innovate and optimize processes. Leadership & Soft Skills - Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with senior leaders and external stakeholders. - Strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures. - Ability to mentor, develop, and elevate less‑experienced staff. - Demonstrated commitment to employee career development and team growth.
