Provide clerical and statistical support for the Trauma Service, maintain and update trauma registry records, and ensure accurate data entry for trauma patients in compliance with established standards and regulations.

• Responsible for accurate and timely coding of hospital inpatient, outpatient and/or professional fee encounters • Responsible for understanding and applying all regulatory coding guidelines • Provides interdepartmental coding assistance as needed • Develops compliant coding processes utilizing reference materials • Facilitates optimization of revenue while maintaining compliance standards • Serves as an expert resource regarding coding systems and regulatory guidelines • Reports documentation and coding improvement needs based upon review findings • Responsible for maintaining coding certification and knowledge • Performs provider and peer coding audits as requested • Assists with monitoring of internal controls for coding and billing.
