Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋 Lightspeed is looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our team. As a Backend developer, you will support Lightspeed's Hospitality product group on the mission to expand our reach into new markets and countries while enhancing our advanced hospitality commerce platform. For this role specifically, you will join our Lighthouse Squad. This team is responsible for building a horizontal product - a subscription management service for our hospitality customers enabling them to unlock various ecosystem software products we have to offer. This is a highly resilient distributed system that spans across software delivery and billing for subscriptions. Above all, your work will change the way the world experiences hospitality! What you’ll be responsible for: - Building and maintaining our software components using primarily python ecosystem - Backend services and APIs with fastAPI, Kafka, Redis, AWS ecosystem - Event driven architecture, with focus on resilience and accuracy - Strong QA foundations with unit and integration tests - Ensuring - Reliability, performance and accuracy aspects - Bugfixes and proactive care of the systems - We analyse the root causes of problems & incidents in the system - We are able to prioritize technical debts aligning with our squad’s technical roadmaps - Collaborating with other teams to help them integrate with our microservices - Use LLMs to accelerate development process safely and robustly What you’ll be bringing to the team: - 5+ years of experience in software development, including senior experience - With a strong continued focus on Python OR - With focus on Python for at-least 1 year and strong backend experience in NodeJS, Golang or Java & willingness to switch to Python. - Strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. - Hands-on experience building REST APIs and Microservices communication patterns - Strong understanding of durability, scalability & optimizations in distributed systems. - Experience with databases such as DynamoDB and/or RDBMS(SQL) - Strong Knowledge of Observability & monitoring systems - Hands-on experience with Kafka. - proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Commitment to clean code, maintainability, and systematic correctness. - Proficiency with CI/CD systems, Docker, and Working knowledge of Kubernetes. Even better if you have, but not necessary: - Experience/ interest in Javascript, basic knowledge of React - Peer recognised experience in Technical Problem Solving in general - Understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP, TLS, etc.). - Experience with cloud environments like AWS - Computer Science degree or equivalent.
