Invest in us and we’ll invest in you. Job Description We are seeking a Staff Engagement Manager (L5) to lead difficult cloud transformation projects for AWS ProServe. This role requires an experienced Agile practitioner who can independently facilitate ceremonies, coach teams on Agile best practices, and develop cloud delivery strategies. The ideal candidate combines strong Agile leadership with growing strategic thinking and AWS technical knowledge. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Agile Leadership & Ceremonies (Primary Focus) - Lead and optimize daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions - Coach team members on Agile best practices and continuous improvement - Establish sprint cadences, ceremonies, and team working agreements - Track and analyze sprint metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time) to drive improvements - Facilitate cross-team dependencies and coordinate multi-sprint planning - Remove impediments and escalate blockers affecting sprint goals - Conduct effective sprint reviews and demos with customer stakeholders - Implement Agile scaling practices for medium-sized engagement teams - Drive retrospective action items to completion Engagement Leadership - Develop and deliver cloud delivery strategies for difficult engagements with minimal oversight - Lead engagement teams to identify and deliver business and technical outcomes - Create outcomes consistent with contract constraints and customer expectations - Ensure solutions align with AWS frameworks and EM best practices - Facilitate teams to foresee, manage, and mitigate risks and issues - Make trade-off decisions and implement action/mitigation plans - Develop comprehensive engagement stakeholder analyses - Own engagement quality, security, operational excellence, and documentation Communication & Influence - Bring right stakeholders together and lead effective meetings - Drive interactions, discussion, and alignment across internal and external teams - Articulate risks/issues with mitigation plans and impact to business outcomes - Clearly communicate requirements, outcomes, and acceptance criteria - Present confidently to senior customer stakeholders and AWS leadership Technical Leadership - Lead difficult technical engagements with AWS services - Analyze and document conditions of acceptance for technical deliverables - Ask the right questions to validate technical solutions align with AWS frameworks - Demonstrate understanding of AWS core services, common use cases, and constraints - Guide teams on AWS best practices and architectural decisions Mentorship - Begin mentoring Associate (L4) Engagement Managers - Share Agile facilitation techniques and lessons learned - Provide guidance on engagement execution and stakeholder management Qualifications Experience - 5+ years of relevant industry experience in technical project delivery - Successfully led difficult technical projects end-to-end using Agile methodologies - Proven track record facilitating Agile ceremonies for medium-sized teams - Experience coaching teams on Agile practices and driving continuous improvement - Specific knowledge in technology domain and/or industry vertical Agile & Project Management Expertise - Expert facilitation of all Agile ceremonies with ability to adapt to team needs - Strong experience with Agile metrics analysis and process optimization - Proven ability to scale Agile practices across multiple workstreams - Experience managing dependencies and coordinating cross-team sprints - Skilled at backlog management, user story refinement, and acceptance criteria definition - Track record of improving team velocity and delivery predictability - Experience with Agile tools and reporting (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps) Technical Requirements - Understanding of AWS core services and cloud architecture patterns - Experience managing business/technical requirements and producing roadmaps Communication & Leadership Skills - Excellent facilitation and conflict resolution abilities - Strong stakeholder management across diverse audiences - Ability to influence without direct authority - Clear, concise written and verbal communication - Comfortable presenting to C-level executives PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scum Master - Advanced (CSM-A), SAFe certification or similar Agile - Certifications - AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification - AWS certifications beyond Cloud Practitioner - Experience with AWS Professional Services or similar consulting environment - Background in cloud migration, modernization, or DevOps transformation projects - Experience with distributed Agile teams across multiple time zones - Knowledge of Agile scaling frameworks (SAFe, Scrum@Scale) SUCCESS METRICS - Consistent delivery of sprint commitments and engagement outcomes - Improvement in team velocity and sprint predictability - Quality of Agile ceremonies and team engagement - Stakeholder satisfaction scores (CSAT) - Effective risk/issue management and mitigation - Quality of engagement documentation and deliverables - Progress toward AWS certification requirements - Mentorship impact on junior team members WORK ENVIRONMENT This role requires independent leadership of customer engagements with limited guidance.
