Senior Manager – Environmental Risk

• Lead quantitative assessment of physical and transition climate risks across portfolios, sectors, and geographies. • Develop and implement financed emissions calculation methodology aligned with international best practices e.g. PCAF and support in calculation of scope 3 financed emissions. • Build and maintain climate‑risk measurement related indicators, metrics, and dashboards using advanced analytics and statistical methodologies. • Collaborate with various teams e.g. one data and technology, enterprise risk management etc. to build data pipelines, climate‑risk datasets and analytical tools. • Consolidate and validate quantitative inputs for climate‑risk regulatory submissions and internal management reporting. • Coordinate development of quantitative ESG and Sustainability related disclosures like GRI, ESG Reports, ISSB, IFRS S1 & S2 etc. • Support in change‑management and automation projects related to climate‑risk data and reporting. • Develop and maintain Net Zero–related quantitative metrics. • Recommend climate‑risk appetite quantitative thresholds for inclusion in the Group Risk Appetite Statement and country-level addendums. • Track financed emissions reduction pathways. • Perform annual emissions trend analysis and variance explanation.
Job Requirements
- Full-time graduate in Economic/ Financial/Data science discipline from a leading university.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI and query based tools like SAS/R/Python, or any other climate‑risk platforms.
- Professional risk management certifications related to climate risk SCR/FRM/CFA will be an advantage. SCR certified individuals will be preferred.
- Good understanding of carbon accounting methodologies (PCAF alignment).
- A minimum of five years of experience in a financial institution is a must. Specific climate risk and ESG risk experience will be given preference and flexibility in years.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, IFRS S2) and the ability to provide constructive feedback aligned with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills focused on assessing climate and its associated risks, conducting comprehensive research on client climate risk performance, and translating climate risks into financial implications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders across business, risk, and support functions in dynamic, multicultural environments. Arabic language will be a plus.
- Well-organized and capable of managing multiple priorities while staying informed on the latest climate science, technology, policy developments, especially in the middle east, and regional/global climate trends.
