Data Scientist

DataPolicy

• Interact with product managers and software developers to gather requirements; • Coordinate with the software engineering team on data collection, cleaning, and usage for internal projects; • Analyze business outcomes or design and manage new studies; • Transform data into formats more suitable for analysis; • Explore large public regulatory datasets to extract actionable insights; • Oversee and design multiple proofs of concept for predictive/prescriptive or AI projects; • Apply machine learning techniques to build predictive models; • Create reports and presentations for business stakeholders; • Correlate related datasets to identify actionable outcomes;

Job Requirements

  • Domain expertise in one of the following areas: statistics, machine learning, economics, or quantitative political science;
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and Scala;
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau);
  • Strong mathematical skills (e.g., statistics, algebra);
  • Advanced ability to perform exploratory data analysis;
  • Experience with common data science toolkits;
  • Practical experience working in statistics;
  • Ability to communicate complex data simply and in an actionable way;
  • Ability to visualize data in the most effective way for a given project or study;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with machine learning and/or AI;
  • Familiarity with data management tools;
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience working with public, political, or health data is a plus;
  • Advanced degree (PhD/MS/graduate) completed or in progress in data science, statistics, social sciences, political science, or a related quantitative field.
