The program is designed to offer consistent and repeated opportunities to develop, grow and practice your knowledge, advance your education via licensing studies, and help you gain confidence in the unique and highly specialized field of commercial claims handling for world’s largest employers and insurance carriers. What can you expect? - Participate in Structured Learning: Actively engage in the first phase of the INVEST Program, which includes instructor-led sessions, online modules, job shadowing, and mentorship focused on foundational insurance knowledge, claims operations, and state-specific workers’ compensation regulations. - Shadow Claims Experts: Observe experienced claims professionals and learn best practices in managing lost time (indemnity) workers’ compensation claims. - Practice in a Simulated Environment ("Sandbox"): Apply newly learned concepts in a controlled, simulated claims environment designed to mimic real-world scenarios. The sandbox allows colleagues to practice making decisions, inputting data, and managing mock claims without risk, helping build confidence before handling actual cases. - Complete Program Milestones: Achieve key learning objectives and performance checkpoints as you build technical knowledge and professional skills essential for a successful claims career. - Collaborate and Network: Engage with peers, mentors, and cross-functional teams to deepen understanding of the claims process and build professional relationships within the organization. - Gradual Claim Ownership: Begin handling new workers’ compensation claims starting in Week 3 of the program. Key position details: - Training Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Central Time (40 hours per week) - Training Duration: 4 weeks - Training Classes Starting: 4/27/2026 and 5/25/2026 - Part Time position - 20 hours/week after training What is your impact? As a Claim Examiner, you will handle processing and adjudication for healthcare claims. This will include claims research where applicable and a range of claim complexity. What Will You Be Doing: - Day-to-day processing of claims for accounts: - Responsible for processing of claims (medical, dental, vision, and mental health claims) - Claims processing and adjudication. - Claims research where applicable. - Reviews and processes insurance to verify medical necessities and coverage under policy guidelines (clinical edit logic). - Incumbents are expected to meet and/or exceed qualitative and quantitative production standards. - Investigation and overpayment administration: - Facilitate claims investigation, negotiate settlements, interpret medical records, respond to Department of Insurance complaints, and authorize payment to claimants and providers. - Overpayment reviews and recovery of claims overpayment; corrected financial histories of patients and service providers to ensure accurate records. - Utilize systems to track complaints and resolutions. - Other responsibilities include resolving claims appeals, researching benefits, verifying correct plan loading. What You Must Have: - 2+ years related work experience. - Claims examiner/adjudication experience on a computerized claims payment system in the healthcare industry. - High school diploma or GED - Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding required. - Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, pre-existing conditions, and coordination of benefits required. - Must possess proven judgment, decision-making skills and the ability to analyze. - Ability to learn quickly and multitask. - Proficiency in maintaining good rapport with physicians, healthcare facilities, clients and providers. - Concise written and verbal communication skills required, including the ability to handle conflict. - Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel and customized programs for medical CPT coding. - Review of multiple surgical procedures and establishment of reasonable and customary fees. • Process and review claims involving minor injuries and routine pay and close cases • Examine claim forms and related documentation to determine coverage • Maintain accurate and up to date claim files, including documentation and reserves • Review and process medical bills and claim related expenses • Issue payments to claimants and providers in accordance with company procedures • Communicate with internal team members and external contacts via email and phone • Handle general inquiries and assist with billing related questions • Refer more complex claims or issues to a supervisor or claims representative • Provide administrative and clerical support to claims examiners and representatives • Help ensure claims are processed efficiently and without unnecessary delays
• Prepare, review, and submit hospital and RHC claims to commercial insurance carriers. • Ensure correct use of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, revenue codes, modifiers, and RHC-specific billing requirements. • Verify charges, units, dates of service, provider credentials, and place of service. • Analyze and resolve billing denials, rejections, and underpayments. • Identify root causes of denials (coding, authorization, eligibility, medical necessity, bundling, timely filing, etc.). • Conduct timely follow-up with payers on unpaid, underpaid, or delayed claims. • Communicate with insurance representatives to obtain claim status and resolution. • Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, hospital policies, and RHC billing regulations. • Work closely with coding, registration, authorization, and clinical staff to resolve billing issues.
