Applications Engineer II (Laser & Fabrication Systems) Entity: DNE Laser USA, LLC Department: Engineering & Applications FLSA Status: FT, Exempt Travel: ~40–60% (customer sites, demos, trade shows) Location: Waukesha, WI (Showroom-based) or Remote (as approved) Compensation: $85,000-$100,000 Position Overview The Applications Engineer II serves as a technical expert in Fiber laser cutting systems and metal fabrication processes, supporting both pre-sale and post-sale customer engagements. This role is responsible for demonstrating equipment capabilities, developing optimized cutting processes, parameters, and ensuring successful customer adoption of DNE Laser USA solutions. You will work closely with Sales, Field Service, and customers to validate applications, improve production efficiency, and position DNE equipment as a best-in-class solution within the steel fabrication industry. This role blends hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and process optimization—ideal for someone with a strong fabrication background who enjoys solving real-world production challenges. Key Responsibilities Customer-Facing Applications Support · Conduct live machine demonstrations for prospective customers using DNE laser systems (sheet, tube, and automation) · Develop and validate cutting processes based on customer-provided materials, prints, and production requirements · Perform time studies and cost analyses to demonstrate ROI and operational efficiency · Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) Process Development & Optimization · Optimize laser cutting parameters for various materials (mild steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.) · Troubleshoot cutting quality, edge finish, and throughput issues · Develop standard process libraries and best practices for internal and customer use · Collaborate with customers to improve workflow, nesting strategies, and machine utilization Sales & Cross-Functional Support · Partner with Territory Sales Managers to provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle · Assist in solution design, including machine configuration and automation recommendations · Support quoting accuracy by validating application feasibility and cycle times · Provide technical input on competitive positioning vs. OEMs (e.g., Trumpf, Amada, Mazak, Bodor) Training & Knowledge Transfer · Train customers on machine operation, cutting processes, and basic troubleshooting · Support internal training for Sales, Service, and Marketing teams · Create documentation, application notes, and demo programs Continuous Improvement & Product Feedback · Act as the voice of the customer to provide feedback to internal teams and factory partners · Identify opportunities for product improvements, new features, or process enhancements · Stay current on industry trends, materials, and fabrication technologies Qualifications Required · 3–6+ years of experience in fiber laser applications, service, or parameter development · Hands-on experience with sheet or tube fiber laser cutting systems · Strong understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding basics) · Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints · Experience with nesting software and/or CAM systems · Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills · Ability to work independently in a customer-facing, travel-heavy role Preferred · Experience with automation systems (load/unload, towers, material handling) · Background with major OEM platforms (Trumpf, Amada, Mazak,Bodor,HSG,Mitsubishi etc.) · Exposure to welding, robotics, or advanced fabrication processes · Previous experience in a demo/application/sales support role Core Competencies · Technical Expertise in Laser & Fabrication Processes · Customer-Focused Problem Solving · Communication & Relationship Building · Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement · Business Acumen (ROI, efficiency, throughput) Compensation & Benefits · Base Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000 (commensurate with experience) · Travel Reimbursement: In accordance with company travel policy · Benefits: QSEHRA, 401(k), and additional company offerings Working Conditions · Frequent travel to customer facilities, which may include manufacturing environments · Exposure to shop conditions including noise, moving equipment, and metal fabrication processes · Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during demos or testing Additional Information This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. • Support or lead substation engineering project teams. • Develop General Arrangements for Substations, Equipment Plans, Control House Layouts, etc. • Perform design studies and demonstrate knowledge of physical electrical substation design. • Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules and budgets. • Assist in site visits and project meetings. • Provide construction support including resolving site queries and inspections. • Manage project documentation and engineering studies.

• Design the data model required to manage weather observations, historical records and associated metadata • Implement PostgreSQL / PostGIS / TimescaleDB structures tailored to performance and retention requirements • Optimize schemas, indexes, queries and retention or archival mechanisms • Support integration of geospatial data, time series and traceability/provenance rules • Contribute to historical migration and validation of ingested data • Define backup, restore, recovery and resilience strategies for the data layer • Collaborate with backend, GIS and architecture teams to ensure solution consistency • Produce technical documentation for the database and operational procedures • Participate in performance analysis and stabilization prior to production deployment

Description What You’d Be Doing As a Senior Structural Designer, you will have the opportunity to creatively solve complex problems, collaborate with highly experienced team members across all engineering disciplines, and work on a wide variety of challenging projects across many industries. • Work with a structural engineer to develop designs for clients that range in a simple sketch to full, ready to permit drawing packages. • Develop plan and detail drawings for concrete foundations and steel buildings and supports. • Incorporate vendor drawings to accurately display anchoring and mounting support, i.e pump bases, motor supports and equipment mounting. • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and electrical staff to develop efficient designs and identify and mitigate interferences between disciplines. • Coordinate with clients and contractors. • Travel will comprise approximately 10% of your time for site investigations, design reviews and construction inspection and coordination. Requirements What Makes You a Good Candidate • 5+ years of experience including drafting and design on industrial projects. • Previous experience must demonstrate an ability to start design of basic foundations and steel framing drawings with minimal support from an engineer. You’ll need to show the ability to work with an engineer on what is needed to complete the task without detailed redlines. You’ll need to be able to create drawings through verbal communication, minimal sketches and your working knowledge and experience. • You will need to know and understand what is needed to create a complete drawing package that includes all necessary information for construction to be completed efficiently. • Knowledge of complex concrete foundations. I.e. Turn-down slabs, spread footings, piers, pits and walls. • Understand of reinforcing and its use in foundations. • Knowledge of steel framing connections. i.e. moment connections, double-angle and shear connections. • Understanding of weld symbols. • Understanding and reading shop steel drawings. • Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards. • 5+ years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Navisworks is required. • Experience with Hexagon CADWorx Structure or Autodesk Advanced Steel is considered a plus. • Understanding of pre-engineered metal building systems (MBS) is considered a plus. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Computer skills need to include the MS Office Suite.
