Malengo
Role Description Your mission is to support scholars in accessing mental health resources and to build a network of support across Germany. - Assisting scholars in accessing counselling/psychotherapy/psychiatry offered by their university, NGOs or the public insurance-financed system in Germany. - Building a network of organizations and individuals that support mental health in the locations all over Germany where our scholars study. - Designing and offering workshops on topics such as: - Adapting to the new environment in Germany - Responsible substance consumption - Sexual harassment prevention - Managing academic stress - Prioritization in daily life - Building a supportive Malengo community - Empowerment - Creating materials (e.g. psychoeducational) for scholars and mentors. - Coordinating scholar counselling cases with our group of professional freelance counsellors. - Identifying and following up on scholars who would benefit from mental health support through existing regular surveys. - Creating organizational policy materials for internal use within Malengo, e.g. emergency response protocols. Qualifications - University student or graduate of Psychology, Medicine, Social Work, Social Pedagogy or a related field. - Living in Germany. - Native speaker of German with fluent English skills (at least B2 level). - Very good organization and communication skills and the ability to work independently. - Empathy and persistence in working with scholars even when obstacles arise (e.g. cultural differences or scholars being non-responsive). - Enthusiasm for supporting Malengo’s mission of social impact and educational equality. - Ideally, experience in working with vulnerable groups, students, migrants, and refugees. - Ideally, knowledge of the mental health care infrastructure in Germany (e.g. how to access insurance-financed therapy, in-patient treatment or support for refugees). Job Requirements
- University student or graduate of Psychology, Medicine, Social Work, Social Pedagogy or a related field.
- Living in Germany.
