Position Overview The Senior Application Architecture Engineer provides enterprise-level application and data-flow architecture support for government IT systems. This role is responsible for mapping application interdependencies, designing secure and scalable application ecosystems, documenting data movement, and aligning application architectures with enterprise standards and mission objectives. The individual serves as the technical authority for application integration, system interoperability, and modernization initiatives. Major Activities - Lead enterprise application and data architecture planning and design - Perform quarterly assessments of application ecosystems and system integrations - Conduct discovery of application dependencies, interfaces, and data exchanges - Develop and maintain layered application architecture documentation including: - Conceptual system views - Logical application architectures - Physical deployment models - Data flow diagrams - Design secure, scalable, and resilient application environments - Architect API frameworks, middleware, and integration platforms - Support modernization, cloud migration, and system consolidation efforts - Evaluate legacy systems and recommend modernization strategies - Design application redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery architectures - Support DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD integrations - Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, RMF, and compliance requirements - Collaborate with network, database, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams - Support system change reviews and technical governance boards - Provide impact analysis for proposed system changes - Maintain enterprise application standards and reference architectures - Support incident response and root cause analysis related to application failures - Present architecture assessments and recommendations to leadership - Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.
