About the role - We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with strong expertise in API development and microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, cloud-native backend solutions, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Essential Functions - Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot - Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures - Deploy, manage, and optimize applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps teams, and product stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions - Ensure application performance, scalability, and security best practices - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry standards - Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions - Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications - Implement CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes) - Maintain technical documentation and support ongoing system enhancements - Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and cloud best practices Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - 7–10 years of experience in backend software development - Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework - Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed systems architecture - Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub) - Strong understanding of REST APIs and backend integration patterns - Experience with relational and NoSQL databases - Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Docker, and Kubernetes - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills - Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Willingness to work in PST hours - Experience with event-driven architecture • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) - Exposure to security and authentication frameworks (OAuth, JWT) We are an equal opportunity employer. • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable full-stack applications using .NET and Next.js • Provide technical leadership across projects, ensuring best practices in performance, security, scalability, and maintainability • Design and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure, including App Services, Front Door, and Azure SQL • Guide engineers through code reviews, technical mentoring, and architectural guidance • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals • Define and maintain engineering standards, CI/CD practices, and development workflows • Oversee system reliability, monitoring, and observability using Azure tools such as Application Insights • Support the design and implementation of real-time features using technologies such as SignalR (websockets) • Lead integrations with external services including authentication platforms and payment systems • Identify technical risks and proactively propose solutions and mitigation strategies • Serve as a key escalation point for complex technical challenges across the team

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise websites using WordPress and Drupal. • Build custom themes, plugins, and reusable components aligned with design systems such as the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS). • Implement integrations with external systems and APIs including identity providers, analytics platforms, and data services. • Collaborate with designers and product teams to deliver responsive, accessible front-end implementations. • Contribute to CMS architecture decisions including content modeling, taxonomy, and reusable components. • Work with technical lead to automate content migrations and conduct data integrity validation. • Ensure solutions meet accessibility, security, and performance standards and contribute to engineering best practices. • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimation, and backlog refinement. • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system reliability. • Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and platform operations. • Other relevant duties as qualified and trained to assume.
