Intern - Electrical Engineering

Role Description We are seeking motivated and talented individuals to join us for a 10-week summer internship within our Engineering department. The intern will rotate across multiple engineering departments, which may include Development, Project Execution, Interconnection, and Technology, gaining hands‑on exposure to utility‑scale battery energy storage systems. You will contribute to technical analyses, interconnection evaluations, and project documentation, working closely with engineers to progress projects. Core Responsibilities - Support a range of engineering tasks designed to build strong technical, interpersonal, and ethical skills. - Learn foundational principles of electrical engineering as applied to battery energy storage systems. - Work alongside experienced engineers on utility‑scale energy storage projects. - Contribute to the detailed design of BESS systems, such as developing one‑line diagrams and drawings. - Contribute to Load flow and Basis & Curtailment Analysis for system planning and design studies. - Develop and maintain basic Python scripts to support data analysis, modeling tasks, and automation of routine engineering workflows. - Complete required training for assigned tasks. - Take on additional responsibilities aligned with project and business needs. - Present project work and findings to the esVolta management committee. Safety - Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site‑specific rules at all times. - Participate in required safety orientations, trainings, and toolbox talks. - Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is worn correctly. - Maintain a clean, organized workspace to reduce hazards and support safe operations. - Report unsafe conditions, near‑misses, or incidents immediately to a supervisor or safety lead. - Ask questions and seek guidance before performing any task you are unsure about. - Practice safe computer and documentation habits, including proper handling of sensitive system information. - Support a culture of safety by modeling attentive, responsible behavior. Qualifications - Currently enrolled in accredited (ABET) undergraduate program focused on electrical engineering or power systems engineering. - GPA 3.0+ - At least 18 years of age. - Foundational experience with Python for data manipulation, simple modeling, or automation, with the ability to learn new libraries and tools as needed. - Demonstrated interest in renewable energy and battery energy storage technologies. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. - Able to take direction from supervisors, mentors, and project leads and translate guidance into effective execution. - Basic proficiency in technical writing, office productivity tools, spreadsheets, and common engineering software. Compensation, Location & Benefits - The hourly rate for this position is $30.00 per hour. - 40-hour work week. - Flexible; option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. - Willingness to be remotely based and ability to travel to company offices and project sites.

We’re looking for a Principal Power System Studies Engineer to join our T&D Engineering and Consulting team. This remote role is ideal for senior-level professionals with strong experience in power systems modeling and analysis. You’ll lead studies, mentor others, and contribute to the development of best-in-class engineering solutions for clients across North America.
