Director, Project Development
BlueWave
• Lead development of a portfolio of solar and energy storage projects across the New York market from origination through construction readiness • Serve as the primary decision maker and project lead for assigned projects, advancing them through the development lifecycle • Drive project value creation while ensuring projects progress on schedule toward construction readiness • Oversee project budgets and development schedules to ensure efficient deployment of capital • Present project-level investment recommendations and budget requests to internal Investment Committee meetings • Represent BlueWave and project interests at local public hearings, community meetings, and regulatory proceedings • Monitor market, regulatory, and policy developments affecting the viability and competitiveness of BlueWave’s solar and storage pipeline in New York • Develop expertise in dual-use community solar project development, supporting BlueWave’s leadership in agrivoltaics and land stewardship • Support the evaluation and execution of project acquisition and/or sale opportunities • Lead post-Origination real estate negotiations with landowners and project stakeholders • Manage relationships with external consultants and technical partners to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables across development scopes • Utilize BlueWave’s project management, document control, and MIS tools to track and report on project progress • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Grid Integration, Legal, Engineering, Execution, and Policy & Government Affairs to advance project milestones • Represent BlueWave at regional industry association meetings and stakeholder forums •Supervise and mentor Analysts and/or Associates supporting development activities within your portfolio
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (engineering, environmental studies, planning, real estate, or related field preferred); MBA or advanced degree a plus
- 8-10+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, preferably within the New York market
- Demonstrated understanding of the New York renewable energy development landscape, including permitting, policy, and market structures
- Experience navigating local community dynamics, including working with municipalities, landowners, and project stakeholders
- Experience negotiating real estate agreements for energy projects
- Technical understanding of solar and/or energy storage project development
- Familiarity with New York State regulatory frameworks, revenue mechanisms, and contract structures supporting solar and storage projects
- Strong ability to clearly articulate project development plans and value propositions to internal investment decision makers
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Role Description The Director of Surplus Lines & Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day execution and oversight of surplus lines compliance, agent appointments, and regulatory operational processes across Novatae’s wholesale divisions. This role is responsible for leading a team and ensuring accurate filings, adherence to state-specific surplus lines requirements, and timely agency appointments. The position partners closely with brokerage, underwriting, accounting, licensing, and external vendors to maintain compliance while supporting efficient business operations. - Manage surplus lines compliance operations including affidavits, tax filings, stamping office submissions, audits, and diligent search requirements. - Oversee agent and market appointments and renewals across all applicable states. - Coordinate with third-party vendors and platforms supporting surplus lines filings. - Coordinate with corporate licensing to ensure compliance with state-specific producer licensing requirements. - Ensure accuracy and timeliness of regulatory submissions and internal compliance documentation. - Partner with accounting and finance teams to reconcile surplus lines taxes and related reporting. - Maintain internal compliance procedures, checklists, and documentation standards for wholesale operations. - Support internal audits, carrier reviews, and regulatory inquiries by gathering documentation and coordinating responses. - Track regulatory deadlines and ensure proactive compliance with state-specific requirements. - Assist with onboarding and offboarding compliance requirements for producers and staff. - Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline compliance workflows and reduce operational risk. - Provide guidance and training to internal teams regarding surplus lines and licensing requirements. The Role We’re looking for a Director, Head of Creators to lead our strategy for creator acquisition, onboarding, and retention. This role will shape how Linktree expands its user base across key creator verticals and new business categories (like real estate, restaurants, and fitness), while ensuring our most valuable users get the support and success outcomes they need. This leader will sit at the intersection of growth marketing, partnerships, and customer success, developing scalable programs to attract, onboard, and grow creators and small businesses globally.
