Role Description Our postings are eligibility pools for positions that may arise during the 2026-2027 school year, ONLY. Applications and interviews are for consideration to be placed in the eligibility pool. As our enrollment continues to grow during the year, there is no way to forecast when a position will open up, which is why there are no set number of open positions listed, nor is such information given out. The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log into the online school daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions. High School teachers carry a caseload of both content and homeroom students. They meet with content students throughout the week in their virtual classrooms to provide standards-based direct and targeted instruction that meets the needs of the students. Teachers support students in coursework, offer additional one-to-one support, and provide feedback and grade work within three days of submission. They build lasting relationships with their homeroom students through daily homeroom sessions, consistent outreach throughout the school year with direct contact on a monthly basis, monitor attendance, progress, and engagement, as well as providing interventions as needed to ensure students remain engaged and continue learning. We do our best to assign homeroom students locally, as teachers are required to plan and attend in-person outings and events. All teachers communicate regularly with learning coaches and families via telephone, web conferencing, and email. Teachers hold parent/teacher/student conferences quarterly, attend virtual meetings, and participate in PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development, both virtually and in-person. Teachers may meet with their students face-to-face for tutoring and at other in-person opportunities. All teachers are required to proctor state testing. Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in security engineering or infrastructure operations within federal or regulated cloud environments. - Deep familiarity with NIST 800-53 controls and continuous monitoring practices. - Proven expertise in AWS/SaaS security, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and IaC security practices. - Hands-on experience with patch management, secure baselines, hardened images, and access management. - Ability to manage SIEM pipelines and lead Tier 1/Tier 2 incident response efforts. - Strong technical documentation, collaboration, and incident/project management skills. - Nice to have: experience integrating security automation into CI/CD and SecOps workflows, federal audit support experience, and knowledge of SaaS security operations at scale.
