Role Description GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Network Architect/SME in Enterprise Level Facilities Security and Industrial Control Systems and Networks for our NIH-CIT proposal. Role Description GovCIO is currently hiring for Network Engineer, Edge Operations for our NIH-CIT proposal. This position is located in Bethesda, MD and is a remote/hybrid position. - Support the Operations Section Manager with personnel administration, strategic planning, and staff planning. - Work alongside the Service Delivery Team, Architecture Team, and Security Team to support their objectives. - Mentor network operations engineers in the practical application of current/emergent technologies, agile IT, ITIL and continuous improvement practices and techniques. - Participate in shift lead duties to serve as “queue managers” to ensure each escalated issue is efficiently assigned, actively being worked by expediting resolution and fulfillment to meet SLAs. - Ensure all network infrastructure devices and systems are monitored using tools such as Grafana, Cisco’s StealthWatch, and PerfSonar. - Provide maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting support for NIHNet’s DWDM circuits to ensure backbone redundancy to NIHNet. - Work with Network Architecture team to identify and recommend software defined networking (SDN) solutions. - Coordinate with Office of Research and Facilities (ORF) to communicate issues and changes that may disrupt critical services. - Work with ORF to formulate performance and security improvements for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network. - Support Cisco-based, backend infrastructure for wireless LANs that provide wireless connectivity for NIH staff and visitors. - Recommend wireless LAN changes to IC POCs based on anomalies detected by CIT tools. - Ensure wireless configurations and solutions are in accordance with published CIT Wireless Baseline Standards. - Work with IC’s to achieve NIH goal of 100% wireless coverage at all NIH locations. Qualifications - High School with CCIE (Routing and Switching) certification and 5 years of equivalent Data Center operational experience OR CCNP (Routing and Switching/Data Center) certification and 10 years of equivalent Data Center operational experience. - Experience mentoring network operations engineers in the practical application of current/emergent technologies, agile IT, ITIL and continuous improvement practices and techniques. - Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. • Providing network operations and support for Varian’s cloud solutions • Private, public and hybrid infrastructure, network and security • Assisting with upgrading, installing, and configuring various cloud solutions including monitoring, application access, security, Palo Alto Networks (Highly Recommended), Citrix NetScaler, Citrix ADC • Assisting with reporting on current infrastructure status, and planning for future usage • Configuring and supporting backbone connections over ExpressRoute (Azure), and direct connection and VPN architecture • Maintaining allocation of IP CIDR block, perform maintenance involving modification of network, subnets, vlans, routes etc • Verifying and action on events aggregated from network monitoring tools and Web Application Firewall using Varian approved tools • Troubleshooting and determining root cause of issues • Collaborating to quickly resolve any network related outages and resolve customer impacting issues quickly • Contributing to the successful execution of projects • Creating, updating, and completing documentation • Investigate root cause analysis of incidents with follow up reporting and final content generation • Collaborating with network engineers on procedures, techniques, tips & knowledge to improve operations, security and work performed • Providing the highest level of customer service • Advance understanding of vendor and telco/exchange/service providers support escalation paths and being able to escalate support requests to these vendors in a typically urgent and timely fashion • Appling network system updates, patches, configuration changes • Planning network layouts and configures systems to user environments • Serving as a technical mentor to colleagues as necessary • Staying up to date with assigned Learning Management System courses • Maintaining a strong knowledge of Varian’s suite of applications • Eagerness to provide the highest level of customer service • On call support as required
