National Sales Manager

Syfan Logistics

Interested in climbing aboard with the Syfan Team? Job Summary: Be a member of a sales team to secure new customer freight management opportunities for Syfan Logistics. Works closely with the VP of Business Development and Sales Team in coordinating the development and growth of all new business opportunities. Supports the operations management team in effectively onboarding, developing and growing new customer accounts. Participates in the development and implementation of the Company strategic sales plan. Essential Duties: - Develops and maintain customer relationships - Identify, generate, pursue, and close new sales opportunities - Assess business opportunities and prospect requirements to solve challenges through a sales solution approach to outsourced/managed transportation services - Through an in-depth understanding of the industry and the customer market segment, apply appropriate sales techniques to close on new business opportunities - Apply multi-tier approach to sales activities including telephone calls, face to face meetings, prospecting, qualifying, lead generation, cold calling, etc. - Monitors, follows up with, and assists customer sales representatives with new leads on business opportunities - Conducts regular cold calls toward mining for potential business opportunities - Establishes and grows new business opportunities - Quotes customers on new lanes as requested or required - Conducts sales trips as required and/or when warranted to visit customer prospects - Design and present sales presentations - Coordinates and works closely with the VP of Business Development Ancillary Duties and Responsibilities: - Collaborates closely with Operations Management to support sales operations as needed - Assists Operations Management in establishing performance goals - Provides support to the Operations Management by covering function responsibilities when necessary - Collaborates with operations managers in effectively onboarding and distributing new business to appropriate customer service representatives - Collaborates in rehabilitating existing sales accounts as needed - Collaborates with operations managers, rate analyst, customer and carrier sales representatives during bidding to validate rating process - Collaborates with operations managers when needed to establish and implement effective operational procedures - Identify problems and potential issues before they happen - When needed, books available freight in a cost effective manner - Collaborates in resolving billing issues - Monitors customer score cards and meet customer performance metrics - Develops, analyzes and runs sales reports in sharing information with operations managers to measure and maintain sales performance and growth - Accessible by cell phone and email after hours and weekends - Communicates observed performance issues to operations managers Skills/Experience: - Provide leadership while maintaining focus on company’s strategic goals - High-energy, positive attitude - Organizational and scheduling skills - Advance knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook - Exceptional customer service - Strong cross-functional understanding and ability to work with counterparts across company - Strong understanding of logistics processes and theory application - Extensive knowledge of business sales reports - Ability to multitask in a high call environment - Ability to populate, analyze and run sales data - Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines - Strong negotiation skills - Ability to work in high-stress situations - Strong problem solving skills - Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Ability to lead and direct multi-functional teams - Self-motivated Education/Training/Requirements: - Preferred: Minimum of 3-7 years of experience working for transportation freight brokerage/logistics companies - Preferred: Experience building and managing a vibrant sales pipeline - Preferred: Ability to think outside the box to solve problems - Preferred: Experience with closing sales that are centered on value vs price Supervisory Responsibility This position has no management responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position has assigned work shifts which includes daytime business hours, afternoons, nights and weekend shift hours.
