Global FMCG Commercial role within rapidly scaling beauty brands - based in Auckland, New Zealand Relocation support provided ZURU Edge - Beauty Brands Position Overview ZURU's beauty vertical has built a portfolio from incubation to nearly half a billion dollars in retail sales across the world’s biggest retailers. The ambition now is to turn them into legacy brands that dominate their respective categories, while continuing to expand into new categories and markets as we build towards $1 billion. This role is central to making that happen. You will own the execution of the commercial plan across supply, product and financials for our Beauty business, driving performance across global markets and distribution partners. Operating in a business with faster decision-making, fewer layers and real ownership, you will be empowered to move quickly, act on opportunities and drive impact without the constraints of traditional FMCG structures. The expectation is not delivery to plan. It is to exceed it by identifying opportunities and closing gaps before they slow momentum. You will play a core role in pricing and trade strategy, global demand planning, JBPs and retailer negotiations. Every decision grounded in data. Reporting to the Commercial Director for Beauty & Pet, you will operate with full ownership and the accountability that comes with it. This is a global business scaling fast with real complexity. Roles & Responsibilities Commercial Strategy & Execution - Own the execution of the global commercial strategy for the beauty vertical across pricing, distribution, trade investment and promotional architecture — driving both top-line growth and brand profitability. - Lead the development and execution of go-to-market plans for new and existing SKUs across markets, ensuring flawless launches that land with retail partners at scale. - Work in close collaboration with in-market teams to define & execute the 4P strategy by market and channel, localising while protecting global brand consistency. Retailer & Account Leadership - Trusted partner on all Joint Business Planning, line reviews and ranging discussions with key retail partners — working with local sales teams to build multi-year growth plans grounded in category insight and mutual value creation. - Act as the primary commercial point of contact for strategic retailers and distributors in markets without dedicated local sales resource. - Develop compelling, insight-led sell stories, innovation cases and commercial pitch materials that win incremental distribution, shelf space and investment. Business Development & Growth - Identify white space opportunities across markets, channels and customer segments — building the business case and leading execution to close distribution and range gaps. - Use category growth frameworks (drivers, occasions, segmentation) to assess portfolio performance, challenge the status quo and unlock new revenue pools. Cross-Functional & Operational Leadership - Partner with S&OP, Supply Chain and NPD to align demand forecasting, capacity planning and global rollout sequencing — ensuring commercial priorities are reflected operationally. - Drive continuous improvement of supply chain set-up across markets, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks that impact availability or cost. - Build and maintain commercial tools and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into performance, enabling faster and sharper decision-making. Skills & Experience - 4-8 years of commercial experience in FMCG - Proven experience working with key retail accounts across mass, grocery or drug (e.g., Walmart, Target, Target, Boot, Coles) - Hands-on experience with JBPs, range reviews, pricing negotiations and trade spend management - Strong financial modelling and Excel skills; comfortable building P&Ls and commercial business cases - Naturally curious, with a sharp analytical mindset and the ability to turn data into actionable commercial decisions - Confident communicator who can influence cross-functional teams and present to senior retail buyers - Comfortable operating across multiple markets and adapting to cultural differences - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or related field preferred - Willingness to travel internationally as required LIFE@ZURU At ZURU, we have cultivated a high-performing culture that encourages excellence. • Strategic Marketing with Retailers: Collaborate with retailer marketing teams to promote growth, create effective displays, initiate global social training, and build marketing proof through BD emails. • Brand Guardianship: Ensure all POS assets have marketing approval before launch. • Distributor Support: Provide tools and align distributors with brand plans for effective execution. • E-commerce Exposure: Keep toy listings accurate and detailed online; audit retailers and optimize online presence. Provide feedback on asset performance. • Media Opportunities Negotiation: Secure catalogue, window, online, and in-store placements. • Customize marketing assets for retailers in collaboration with sales and the China team. • License Partnerships: Collaborate cost-effectively with license partners to enhance brand impact. • Measure Success: Review strategies regularly, analyse trends, and provide insights to retailers. Conduct store visits when needed. • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external teams, partnering with sales to pursue new opportunities and deepen partnerships. • Trade Marketing: Maintain ZURU’s voice in trade press and support showroom/trade show setups. • Manage Local Marketing Budget: Strategically plan and manage the local marketing budget with a focus on adapting quickly to product sales trends. • Bespoke Local Content support for vetting/ helping approve local influencers/ambassadors/seeding campaigns. • Thought Leadership: Foster an entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive approach. • Local marketing adhoc support when needed for wider business projects.
